Itās taken some adjusting: Kingsman. Itās only been a few months but heās found himself settling in best he can. Heās not used to being around quite so much posh but itās also something heās grown accustomed to in England during the time in between his tours. And heās not new to prejudice. The job is something heās slid into quite seamlessly, shadowing Merlin, studying and TRAINING by the older manās side. He always expected to start a new job at some point, once he decided to leave the military, but heād not put much thought into what that might wind up being before Merlin approached him. It suits him. Tech. Handling agents. Providing support in the field when necessary. Itās a BALANCE between the active duty heās accustomed to and the kind of work that he enjoys doing. But this, their current assignment, is something foreign. He finds it unsettling.
Theyāre in the middle of the English countryside at a large estate clearing the massive home in their civvies- well, his civvies, Harry is in appropriate Kingsman attire -and Hamish isnāt accustomed to espionage of THIS kind. Heās accustomed to uniforms, tactical gear, covert operations in the middle of deserts and jungles and the muck and filth theyāre thrown into. This is something quite other. This is a family murdered in their own home because of their association with Kingsman and a missing child. Missing until they find her.
It takes quite some time to canvas the entire mansion- because he canāt rightly call the monstrosity a house -Harry taking the upper levels and himself the lower with Merlin in their ears the entire time. Heās almost through with his sweep when he hears something from the back of the room and approaches slowly.Ā āMerlin. Possible CONTACT.ā He almost misses the cricket bat with how low it is to the floor, the little girl barely able to swing it out at him and he sidesteps before sheās dropping it and wailing at him with tiny fists.Ā āOch- ey, wee one...ā The BARRAGE to his legs is a bit uncomfortable but doesnāt really hurt so he slowly clicks on the safety of his weapon and tucks it into the back of his waistband before crouching down and gently taking her shoulders to hold her away so she doesnāt catch his face.Ā āItās alright, lass. Iām here te help. I wonā hurt ye. I promise.ā
