Welcome to the world of grace.
It’s kinda cramped in here, lol.
This tumblr is temporary while I write and document my process for building my actual, legitimate blog at graced.is (don’t go there yet - there’s nothing there).
So first things first: why tf am I not just using Wordpress or Ghost to run my blog? Well... I am kind of a glutton for punishment, lol. Actually, I love building things and I am currently a student at Lambda School in order to pursue my pretty much life-long dream of becoming a web developer. I have always said I’d build my own blog and during my various periods of unemployment *cough* downtime, I have typically pursued such activities but I never get around to finishing them.
Well, not today, Satan.
Today (and the last few weeks actually), I start documenting my journey to building my blog, completing it, and publishing it via github and my professional domain. I have a lot of ideas, and I have a lot of planning to do.
so, let’s build a blog!
Second on the agenda: a breakdown of what I hope to accomplish:
Teach myself how to write code with a test-driven mentality... I have to confess, I don’t really know how to test. However! With that said, I didn’t know how to code until I Googled it for myself™.
Plan my project on paper which I’m SOMEWHAT good at doing... then I get all squirrelly and want to write it then the next thing I know I’m 45 files deep in Javascript and the current thing I’m working on breaks the last thing I just finished.
Don’t reinvent the wheel! I want to force myself to utilize NPM scripts out there (if you don’t know what that is, which you probably don’t, I’m proud of you for making it this far down a tech blog post) like creating website.com/urls/like-this-for-my-links/ (these are called slugs, FYI) and integrating a fancy text editor so I don’t make myself write one that sux.
Hopefully some poor soul out there who stumbles upon my blog will find these posts funny and somewhat educational. If I can stop someone from making my own mistakes, then so much the better.
Portfolio-wise, I hope to release my blog in several forms of git repositories (again, congrats on not understanding a dang thing on this blog if you’re still reading) so I can show off my skillz and impress people with my knowledge. And land a job. (Once I graduate ofc.)
And finally, build up a small public media presence in the form of-- you guessed it-- social media! Now that I’m married with a new last name, I really want to strike out on my own and show the world my credentials, show off what I can do, and hopefully make some friends along the way.
(Yeah, okay, I realize that we have not taken one step to writing a blog so far... I’mma get to it innaminnit.)
I will be honest and admit that I am writing these posts and making sure they are as accurate as possible since I do hope to teach these concepts one day and I don’t want this blog to haunt me with the inevitable errors I will make and publish. I’m currently sitting in my swanky/comfy home office while hubby gets ready for bed because Lambda School classes (for me anyway) are 7pm-10pm ET. This blog, of course, is a mini passion project for me as I document-document-document and hopefully I don’t fall off the wagon this time. The last time I wrote a technical blog that I didn’t delete was in 2013. Eek.
Anyway, I will also most likely post cute cat pictures of my three fat fluffs from time to time, and once I am (no longer unemployed) busy during the day I will pop in here and write some micro-blogs.
peace x

Lambda School raises $74M for its virtual coding school where you pay tuition only after you get a job
In the world of technology, online learning has been one of the bigger beneficiaries of the last several months, with people staying home and away from their normal routines because of the coronavirus pandemic and using that time to expand their knowledge, or more critically, figure out what to do next if they want to change careers, or have found themselves without a job.
Now, one of the…

Lambda Launch Week Recap
Next week begins the journey into my Web Development learning. I created this blog to share my experience learning at Lambda School. It’s a tech coding bootcamp academy where you can learn various fields such as Data Science, Full Stack Web Development, iOS/Android Development. You can choose your time between full and part-time (to work with your job schedule). My class officially starts on September 30th, 2019 and I’m very stoked, so before starting class Lambda School started a new feature called Lambda Launch. It’s a week long “orientation” to help students get acquainted with getting ready to excel in their track. Our instructor for the Lambda Launch was Diandra Ryan-Mas who've done an excellent job instructing the students.
I joined Lambda School because I want to go change my career and have more financial freedom to better support my son who is my world. My son name is Johan who just recently turned 4 years old. Sometimes I feel that he’s smarter than me with
I’ve always had an interest into software development. I created my first game called Soul Shooter Online that I originally worked on starting in 2004. It was more of a hobbyist project than anything serious. I used an old 3D engine called Blitz3D which syntax was based of the BASIC language. I’ve never done any web development work, so this will be a new experience for me into the field, but I hope to really do well in this class. Wish me luck and keep me in your prayers.
