Adaptable / Out of Context Angst Starters.

Marinette tensed visibly at the way he uttered those words, and the severity of the words themselves, her face twisting into a big frown. The thought would’ve never occurred to her that Chat Noir, with his mannerisms and the confidence that practically oozed off of him, would actually voice such a self-deprecating thought.“Now, why would you say that?” she asked him, motioning to rest a hand on his shoulder, but finally deciding against it. “I’m sure Ladybug likes being around you, you’re partners after all.” She could voice her thoughts more freely now about that subject, seeing as she wasn’t hiding behind the mask. “You surely have family that loves you, right?” she continued, thinking about her parents and all her relatives and how warm and welcoming they were. “I, for one, enjoy being around you.” she added meekly, quietly, before ending with a teasing smile: “Even if your puns are terrible. You should get punished for this- And this pun was not intended! You’re rubbing off on me, you know.” She gasped at the -purely unintentional-play of words, trying to lighten up the atmosphere. She hated seeing him like this, they were very good friends after all.

Marinette loved the festival. It was always her lightest work week. Don’t get her wrong, it was very kind of Mr. Degious to take her in when both her parents died in the fire that claimed the family bakery. Yet she could do without the near slave-like conditions she was treated to.

Yet she continued to smile cheerfully through her work awaiting the festival week leading up to the grand ball at the palace. It was during the ball she had the house to herself without any shouting or orders. A few overly brief hours of peace.

Sure she wanted to go to the ball like any other girl, but she had her moments of peace in exchange.

Yet the thoughts of the ball were pushed from her mind as she met up with her friend Alya. A girl who worked in the palace herself and always found time to join the baker’s daughter in shopping.

Today, it was for the fabric that would make Chloe’s dress for the ball. Marinette was browsing through the yellows. Really as to why the girl wanted to wear such a loud color was well beyond her understanding, yet Chloe got what Chloe wanted.

“Are you sure you’re okay making a yellow dress?” Alya asked her looking over the fabric Marinette held in her arms.

“Chloe wants yellow.” She answered. “The latest rumor is that the Prince’s favorite color is yellow.” She spoke with an eye roll that had both girl’s laughing, Marinette only stopping when she felt herself bump into someone.

Never before had Marinette’s clumsiness cursed her so much.

Never before had she wanted the ground to swallow her up more.

Never before had she wished Chloe would say something.

Never before had she been so very lucky.

Marinette had tripped while heading down the stairs out of the school and landed on Adrien Agreste. Though really, she could have done without how they had landed on the ground.

She was on top of him, and her lips had connected with what little of his collarbone that was exposed there was.

     Marinette wondered if her heart was beating as loudly a sshe felt it was. Yes, she’d give an arm and a leg to spend time with Adrien, and the time they spent laying video games had been fun (save for her parent’s constant interruptions, and the constant fear that she’d forgotten to hide all the pictures of him she owned), but she wasn’t expecting another chance to spend time with him so soon.

     Or in the form of another competition.

     And yet here she was, idly aware of Alya giving her encouraging pats on the back, and Chloe voicing her disagreement as Marinette’s mind struggled to comprehend what the gym teacher had said.

     She was to be Adrien’s partner in the field day competitions next week. The more studious part of her retained some information the tacher gave--extra credit for winning pairs, grading based on effort and sportsmanship not wins, etcetera--but all Marinette’s mind could focus on was that she got partnered with Adrien. For the next few classes she’d be practicing teamwork with Adrien and she’d be competing with Adrien and she’d have reasons to meet with him outside of school--

     She didn’t even register that the teacher had told them to break and meet up with their partners until Alya’s “look alive, I believe in you!” cut through the teen’s thoughts and she was shoved a few paces forward towards the approaching blond. Suddenly, Adrien was upon her and--

     As per usual, she had no idea what to say.

To say Marinette was nerves when she asked Adrien if he could help her with a design project would be an understatement. To find he agreed to it and she was now in a state of panic and her room was a complete mess would have you finding her in her current state.

Bits of fabric littered the floor of her room, she had removed all evidence of her obsession with Adrien from her walls and computer, she had her hair in a messy bun that was already falling out, and a semi-constructed outfit waiting for a fitting sitting on a mannequin.

Hawkmoth had just been defeated for good.

The fight was extremely taxing, even considering the Miraculous duo’s extensive experience with these things. Ladybug could hardly even breathe, let alone find somewhere secluded enough for her transformation to wear off in, and Chat Noir’s condition didn’t seem any better. 

“It’s all over now, isn’t it?” she squeaked out. “Well, there’s no point in hiding anymore, and I’m too tired. We might as well just reveal ourselves already.... what?!” 

Looking around the city, the witch couldn’t help but smile. She’d always wanted to go Paris and now that she finally got the chance to, she was overjoyed. It was just as beautiful as she’d imagined and the Eiffel Tower was so big. She couldn’t believe it.
