okayso. i think that with how much d3rs mind was affected after witnessing the king, the king could absolutely just worm His slippery voice into d3rs head as well.

it was also like 5% projecting. i love love love writing things with characters doing weird mind shit (basically, making characters have system-coded mannerisms) and i barely get a chance to do that with my usual yaoi pairings. so of course i jumped at the opportunity. plural coded d3rking yes please!!

exploring HOW the king actually talks is a bit of a doozy. i will try to make it understandable but if it isnt, just remember that the king is eldritch and therefore shouldnt be understood in general so. blame HIM /silly

i wanted to write kings voice Like this for two main reasons: one, because i think He would have a very particular voice – loud and clear but at the same time coy and a little whispery around the edges. and two, because d3r "hears" it both mentally and physically!

i dont really know how to describe the way the king sounds. His voice could so be heard by other people if He chose, but d3r will hear it both ways anyway. so, its easier just to speak mentally

d3rs thoughts are very muddled most of the time, and oftentimes confusing to himself. but the kings "voice" is always easily heard, always easily seperated from d3rs internal monolouge

their mind meld also plays into this! again i based this (in part) off of my experience being a system, so idk if it will make sense. but d3r can "feel" what the king says/feels through their minds. in this way, they can both just. think loudly at each other.
