Hey guys, sorry it's been a while since I last posted🤧 Anyways heres a Gintoki headcanon where Gin chan becomes a bit romantic with his loved one:)

Lake Dates with Gintoki

Pairing: Gintoki Sakata x reader

Warnings: None, just a cute date idea with a side of fluff

Date idea: visiting a nearby lake at night that was rumored to be popular for couples

A deep sigh escaped your lips causing a white, snowy fog to remain in the chilly air as you trudged on in the dark. The only light illuminating your trail was Gintoki's torch and you did what you could to avoid falling on the slippery mountain trail.

You and Gin had randomly picked a date option from a site online and the answer ended up being a late night lake viewing.

Unfortunately neither of you was willing to say no in fear of hurting the other's "supposed" excitement so here you were in the middle of the night plodding through a mountain with the sound of silence echoing throughout.

Despite your slight irritation at the situation, the wilderness' night time tranquility had begun to ease your tense mind. You focused on the peaceful chirping of the crickets, the cracking of leaves beneath your boots and the whistling of the wind as it passed by; somehow it calmed you.

You spoke up in a soft tone, "I'm glad we came out here Gin, everything feels so alive yet so still."

"I know what you mean," he said as he inhaled deeply breathing in the fresh air," The world's never felt this quiet before."

The pair continued on with a comfortable silence in the air as they headed towards the lake.

At long last, the still body of water came into view and you inhaled sharply at the beauty of such a view. The lake was surprisingly larger than you had imagined, and you could spot a sparrow flying across in the corner of your eye.

It was a half moon tonight so there was enough light to see the lake's surface shimmer as if the stars themselves had come down to visit.

"Gin its beautiful! I can see why this place is so popular," you exclaimed.

"It really is," he said in a whisper as he gently held your waist from behind – fingers lacing and hanging leisurely by your lower torso – while he rested his chin on your shoulder. Gin had started admiring a different view and it definitely wasn't the lake.

You noticed his staring after a while and questioned, "What? Is there something on my face?" giggling softly to hide your slight embarrassment since you knew why he was staring all along.

"Yeah, it's called cuteness," Gin said as he grinned at you. You pinched his hand lightly as you tried to hold back a smile but failed anyways.

"Fine fine, let's move on now," you said exasperated from his flirting," I'll start setting up our food, you do the lighting kay."

"Osu, anything for you ojou chan~," Gin answered with a cheeky smile as he jumped away laughing trying to dodge your punch.

After a little while the picnic blanket and food were all spread out with tiny lamps adorning the sides for lighting. You stood with your arms on your hips, proud of your and Gin's work.

"How long are you gonna stand there y/n-chan, come sit down already," Gin whined as he patted his lap so you could sit closer. Your face flushed at the thought and you stuck your tongue out at him, getting ready to sit down on the opposite end of the blanket.

"Not a chance perv. Now come on let's eat already, I'm getting real hangry," you said as you reached for a mini sandwich. Gin smiled deviously before grabbing your hand as it was just about to grab a sandwich, and pulled you back to flop onto his open lap.

You yelped in surprise while Gin gave you a tight squeeze as you sat in his lap. "I swear you were meant to be a child forever Gin chan," you said as you laughed at his persistence. "Fine I'll sit in your lap, happy?"

"Very much so," Gin responded with a grin before reaching for his own food.

The night continued with small talks and cuddling in the open wild with the sound of the still lake and the rustling of trees in the background.

Gin had been holding you tightly with your back facing him as he rested his head on your shoulder to nap a little after eating. The warmth on your back was one of the most comforting things you've ever experienced, and sleep ended up getting to you as well.
