From birth, Catalina had provided nothing more than she had surprises. Her very existence had been a shock, a second child who was just as spirited as the first. Perhaps moreso, perhaps too much, for Mary's only daughter had proven a handful to her governesses, tutors, and parents alike. As she grew older, Mary struggled to deny that her daughter was quite unlike her namesake, though she was entirely infuriated at those who might compare her to Queen Catherine's notorious sister; the whispers of La Loca were ones Mary could not abide.
Still, she knew that her daughter could be difficult, a prospect which had worried her upon sending her children off to William's court. They were well-attended and watched over, of that she had no doubt, but it still remained. "No one has troubled you. have they?" She asked as she studied Catalina's face in the firelight. "Over hearing mass, or anything else? I am told you have conducted yourself very well in His Majesty your uncle's court, so I can only assume you have been well-treated. I can only suppose that you would have already voiced much displeasure at anything less."
