synop. youre getting bullied at school, so dally picks you up early and takes care of your disheveled state.
"you sure you're gonna be ok?" dallas asked, staring out the windshield of the red t−bird, tapping his fingers on the stearing wheel. he finally turned his head, looking over your sheepish form.
you wiped the tears from your eyes with your sleeve, avoiding his eyes by all means. you inhaled before letting out a shakey exhale. "just.. lemme stay here until i calm down." you stuttered out, flipping down the sun visor to stare at your red face in the small mirror. you sunk back into the leather of the seat with a whine.
"its gonna be ok." dallas whispered, placing a hand on your thigh, giving it a comforting sqeeze. "nothing will happen—and if something does, you call me. ill be at bucks the whole day, so i will get the call if you do." he said softly, wiping the tears rolling down your cheeks.
you turned your head to look at him; his brown hair, soft brown eyes, soft lips. letting out another whine, you placed your head on his shoulder. a small frown formed on his lips and he wrapped his arm around your shoulder, patting it gently.
"you know id love to not drop you off, but your parents already dont like me enough." he chuckled, placing a kiss to your temple.
you liked when dally was like this—all sweet. but you still liked his tuff side. he was always so tuff—maybe you can try being tuff for him just this once.
you sniffled, wiping your nose with your sleeve as you slung your schoolbag over your shoulder. your eyes met his once again, hand now gripping the door handle. "love you." the words fell quietly from your mouth, then placing a quick kiss on his cheek before leaving for the school day. dallas watched as you walked off, letting out a breath he didnt know he was holding before speeding out of the parking lot.
"how can you talk about me to your friends and not say it to my face? thats so pathetic, nerd. cant even do something as simple as that." the girl spat in your face, looking all sweet as she sat next to you at your empty lunch table. your eyes met the floor as you tried to hold back tears, inhaling and exhaling shakily. to be frank, you only started talking about this girl to people when she started teasing you—now she seems to be everywhere and know everything.
"then you go and hang out with that criminal, greaser boyfriend of yours. is he even your boyfriend? you look too childish for a guy like him. bet hes only with you because your parents paid him. you know a kind of guy like that would do anything for money, right? how many gas stations has he robbed again?" she laughed, placing a firm hand on your back. tears started to prick in the corners of your eyes; lunch now going uneaten as you felt the urge to throw up from the anxiety. you didn't dare say anything to her.
she stared down at you, scowl on her face before a sweet smile formed on her lips. "youre not giving me the reaction i wanted today. go and run off to those puny administrators—they wont believe you anyway." she chuckled before returning to her table with her friends, mentioning how she was just talking to a "friend."
you did infact get up; putting the rest of your unfinished lunch back in your bag, slinging over your shoulder as you walked out of the cafeteria, holding back tears.
you walked meekly to guidance, staring down at your feet so no one would see those pathetic tears. opening the door, you walked to the front desk, asking for the counselor and walking to her office. everything just flowed out once you sat down in the dingey chair, staring at everything in her room but her. you wiped your tears, and blew your nose, letting your whole soul pour out to this clearly inexperienced woman.
"do you just want to call someone?" she stuttered out. "ill leave the room." you gave her a small nod, letting out another sob as she got out of her creaky chair. she walked slowly around her desk, giving your shoulder a faint pat before she grasped the doornob, now leaving the room.
the sobs grew louder after she left, your head finding its place in your hands. how could you be this sensitive? cherry and marcia were so much stronger than this—how could they deal with girls like her. well, they didnt have to deal with girls like her. they were perfect. no one teased them. everyone loved them.
you found yourself reaching for the rotary on her cluttered desk, dallas' number being the first to come to mind. you pulled each number on the dial before holding the cold plastic up to your ear, the repeated ring blaring through the small speaker. "pick up...pick up..." you found yourself muttering. when you heard the the line click—signalling someone picked up—you hoped it was dallas and not his older roomate.
"hello?" a gruff voice came over the line. the gruff voice you learned to love so much. "dally.." you sobbed out, "she called me pathetic, and a nerd, and said you were only with me for the money and—" you choked out, full on hyperventilating as you held the phone as close as you could to your ear. "alright − alri − slow down, doll. calm down." he cooed on the opposite line. "im coming to get you, hold up. ill be there in 5."
you couldnt even let out another babbled sentence before the line went dead. you set the phone back on the hook, continuing to cry your eyes out. you and dally both fully know that it would take him 10 minutes to get from bucks to the school—if he was going the speed limit.
when dallas arrived and signed you out—surprised that the office let him do that—you wainted until you both were in the thunderbird before throwing yourself into his arms. he cooed softly, "shhh.. i know, i know. shes a real bitch, aint she? picking on a doll like you." he scowled under his breath, allowing you to curl up into his lap. he threw your schoolbag into the passenger seat, moving you so you were more comfortable before he began to drive. he didnt even try putting on his seatbelt, or getting you in the back. dallas didnt care if he died right now from some idiot plowing into him; he just wanted his doll close to him.
"gonna beat that broad up, swear to god." dallas sighed, keeping one hand on the wheel and the other on the small of your back. "shes got it coming." he scowled. that just made you whine louder, crying into the crook of his neck. "sorry—sorry." he whispered, staring down at you before his eyes met the road again.
he kept his eyes on the road, arm gripped tightly around your waist. dallas didnt talk; he knew whatever he would say wouldnt really help right now. he just waited until he made his way to your house.
he shut the car off, taking the keys out. he stared down at your form in his lap—red face with tears pouring down your cheeks, hand gripping his jacket tightly. god, he was turning soft. he picked you up, along with your bag, exiting the car and shutting the door. he walked up to your front door, setting you back down on the ground and digging your keys out of your bag. you sniffled and wiped your face, trying to hide from all the 'prying eyes' of the people that actually werent there. he unlocked the house, bringing you into the foyer of your parents house.
"cmon, lets get you all comfy upstairs." he cooed, wrappinghid arm back around your torso. you gave him a meek nod, following up the steps. he got you to your room, setting your stuff down and leading you to your bed.
"i dont want to go back.." you sobbed into your hands, dallas sorting through your dresser to pick out a pair of pajamas. "i know you dont, sweetheart." he spoke softly, turning to look at your meek form. "your parents will figure it out—or i will." he whispered that last part, bringing the clothes over to you. "lift your arms up." he said, calmly. you lifted your arms up as a pout spread on your lips.
he helped you take your school clothes off, getting you in the comfy clothes he picked out. you immediately wrapped your arms around him, continuing to cry into his chest. he looked down at you, letting out a small sigh as he placed a hand on you back. "shhh. its gonna be ok—i promise, baby." he cooed, picking your head up with his hand on your cheek. "promise." he whispered, giving you a soft smirk before placing a kiss on your lips.
"cmon, get all comfy," he patted your bottom, pushing you farther into the bed. "gotta give me room." he teased, earning a small chuckle from you. he took off his shoes—gentleman—before climbing in next to you, wrapping his arms around your smaller figure. "i promise youll be ok—ill never let anyone hurt you." dallas cooed, pushing a strand hair behind your ear. "cmon, rest, before that migrane kicks in."you smiled, he knew you too well.
"love you, dally." you sniffled, nuzzling into his chest. he smiled softly, placing a kiss on the crown of your head. that was enough of an i love you from him.
