I'm continuing the list of books in this collection. This is volume 46, which covers episode 1 of season 5.
This cover marks the first appearance on one of the Papillon's variations, as this one is Monarque. Which is funny because Papillombre didn't have a cover (not a loss, because personally, I hate this variation, Gabriel looks really horrible in that costume).
So, a little duet between our Ladybug, who also changed costumes, and the same for our Papillon. For once, the cover looks more like a duo ready to do battle than enemies. The added bonus is that the background of the image is Gabriel's entrance (the part with the famous stained-glass window); it's as if the enemy has come to get them on their own turf. I think it creates a superb atmosphere. Which is even more interesting when you consider that Marinette has never had access to this area of the Agreste household. Or at least that I remember (it's been a while since I've seen seasons 4 and 5 XD.).
On the other hand, Monarque's toothy grin scares me XD. It really gives him a nightmarish appearance! Since he's behind Ladybug, it's as if he's telling the spectators (or opponents) to dare to approach. A little challenge from him. Would you be ready to fight Monarque ?
Admit it, it's a great image of our favorite ship *w*. They form a team that exudes class and power. And a kind of maturity that's not without its charms, isn't it? I like the fact that the two of them are clenching their fists, ready for battle. And then the fact that Gabriel is facing Marinette in a three-quarter view, and Marinette is doing the same, creates a really cool visual dynamic. Oh, and Gabriel's arm behind his back reinforces his class. So cool! Oh, and then the blue of Marinette's eyes, as well as those of Gabriel's hair, not to mention the bluish background, adds depth.
Okay, I'll stop there; I think you've figured out why I like this cover XD.
