In the #xmen series, Betsy reappeared amnesiac on an island near China, where the Hand, a ninja clan, found her. Matsu'o Tsurayaba, the leader, saw a chance to save his brain-dead lover, Kwannon. Psylocke's telepathy could restore Kwannon, so Matsu'o agreed to having the two women's minds molded into each other's bodies, having their genetic structures merged, and leaving both women with physical and mental traits of the other while each possessing half of Psylocke's telepathic power.
