CALL TO ACTION
Your in-person attendance is needed at the next LA Community College District (LACCD) Board of Trustees meeting! With the deadline for the Board of Trustees to petition the Payan v. LACCD case to the United States Supreme Court approaching on March 4th, it’s time to show up and demand that the Board stop their efforts to undermine the ADA and Section 504 protections.
WHERE AND WHEN
The LACCD Board of Trustees will hold a Regular Board Meeting on March 2, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM PST. If you are in the Los Angeles area, please show up and attend the meeting in-person at the Educational Services Center Board Room located on the first floor of 770 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90017. Our goal is to fill the board room with supporters!
The LACCD offices are a short distance from the 7th Street/Metro Center light rail station. Metered street parking is available but may be hard to find. If you are driving into the Downtown area, paid parking may be available at the 757 S Flower St Garage and the Athena Parking at 742 S Figueroa St. Prices vary, but both lots are within walking distance of the offices.
PUBLIC COMMENT
If you can attend in person, you may request to speak in-person during public comments on the day of the meeting. You may also send an email to [email protected] before the meeting date with your name and confirm that you would like to speak during the public comment section of the meeting. Include the agenda item and meeting date in your email. See our example below:
My name is --- and I am requesting to address the LACCD Board of Trustees during the Public Comment section of the Board Meeting being held on Wednesday, March 2, 2022.
Public comments generally begin at 3:00 PM PST, but you should plan to arrive early if you can. If you need assistance using BoardDocs because of accessibility barriers:
Call the LACCD Board of Trustees Office at (213) 258-0615, or
Email to LACCD Board of Trustees Office at [email protected].
There are several ways you can share your public comment if you are unable to attend the meeting in person:
Attend virtually. To request to speak during Public Comment once the meeting has started, raise your virtual hand on Zoom when the section is presented. The agenda will be available by Monday, February 28th, and the meeting link will be available online the day of the meeting at bit.ly/laccd-board.
On the day of the meeting, you may raise your hand to request to speak. You should raise your hand before the agenda item begins that you want to address. Before you are asked to speak, you may be contacted by the Administrative Assistant to the Board of Trustees or another LACCD representative and asked to identify which agenda item you want to address. When the Public Comments agenda item begins, you should be ready to unmute yourself to begin speaking. You will have 2 minutes to speak. You may want to write out part of your comments or a few bullet points to help you remember what you want to say and practice the timing of your comments.
Submit a written public comment. Email your written comment to [email protected] no later than 10:00 AM PST on March 2nd. Include the agenda item and meeting date in your correspondence. Correspondence received becomes part of the official record.
Submit written public comments:
By e-mail to [email protected], or
By mail, Attention: Los Angeles Community College District - Board of Trustees, Educational Services Center, Board of Trustees Office, 770 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90017
Address the Board telephonically. If you are unable to submit written public comments by email and would like to address the Board of Trustees by telephone, call (213) 258-0615 for assistance.
To request the agenda in alternative accessible formats, contact the Executive Secretary to the Board of Trustees at (213) 258-0615 no later than 12:00 PM PST on the Tuesday before the Board meeting.
