La BrunildaÂ
When arriving at La Brunilda, there was a line to put our names down and groups of people waiting outside. Good sign. The hostess quoted us a 17 minute wait. Yea, I know. I thought it was odd too. Something I would say actually. She suggested a really cute restaurant to grab some drinks in the meantime, which we did! Staff was really nice here!Â
My favorite tapa that we ordered was the confit de pato con crema de zanahoria especiada y pistachos. The skin was super crunchy and the meat was savory and juicy. I loved the texture of the crushed pistachios and the sweetness of the puréed carrots that balanced the dish.Â
Crunchy, fried balls? Yes, please! Whenever a tapas place offers a spin on croquettes, I have to order it just to try. Croquetas de gorgonzola y nueces were a nice surprise. I liked the creaminess of the gorgonzola cheese and the crunch of the pine nuts. It took me a couple bites to truly enjoy the flavors!
Lastly, I was really excited for presa ibérica con batatas glaseadas, crema de idiazábal y pistachos because my goal in life is to eat anything that is Iberico. Because Iberico is life. The dish looked so beautiful, but the pork was bland! What a let down!Â
Don’t forget to look around for the chalkboards to see the specials!
