JambalaseeGrenada is a project designed to employ multiple digital platforms and immersive spaces, to record, document and preserve Grenada’s rich cultural heritage with special emphasis on its traditional Jab culture and sound. The ultimate goal of our project is to educate the world about the significance of the Jab sound and culture, while solidifying Grenada’s claim to its origin, evolution and global spread. We seek to build a brand that is synonymous with Grenada’s deep cultural history, so that future generations will proudly identify and claim it as their own. Another aspect of the festival is the Sound of the Jab, Jab music. This is a crucial time for the Jab sound, as it has already infiltrated the region and is spreading internationally. Grenada has a rich catalog of Jab songs that have defined and developed the Jab music genre. It is imperative that Grenada publicly claim ownership of this musical genre. Therefore, the Festival will highlight this important part of the culture by infusing artist performances with the Sound of the Jab, played by the respective Jab bands. The Jambalasee Festival is also an attempt by Jambase Grenada to support the traditional mas and its players, who, like all of us, are reeling from the effects of COVID-19. The festival will make financial contributions to the Jab bands in the form of cash prizes and standard appearance fees. The necessary COVID-19 permissions will be pursued and precautions adhered topersued. All COVID-19 protocols will be fully enforced for all participants of the event. @skinnybanton @jab_ahdobay_king_ @nordley_frederick #rhythmMix More in to come #FriscoSprat #Spicemas2022 #Labaye #Jambalaseefestival #Jabjab #Culture #Grenada #maroons #SUBSTANCE #DBDB #Dover #GrandMaroonage #Jouvert #CAPITAL https://www.instagram.com/p/CavTcvgFnyd/?utm_medium=tumblr
