Just a little post to look back on about my boy Roman, since I'm feeling a little sappy.

I got Roman at 8 weeks, he was a incredibly sweet, shy boy who very quickly turned into a tiny devil. He chewed shoes and cords and ate far too many pairs of underwear, but he was perfect in his own way.

As Romes grew he grew into himself, finding his courage to face scary things like cars, balloons and empty paint cans. He also learned to be a good boi on his leash and play nicely with other dogs, even those who were much smaller than him. As it turns out he became best friends with my cousin's PomChi Finley.

Unfortunately, at the age of 3, he started to have seizures and was diagnosed with epilepsy. Something, I'm told is very common in both Labs and German Shepherds, so my lucky boy just happened to get it too.

We controlled it pretty well with CBD oil, but it still meant he had some very rough weeks. His seizures tended to come farther apart and fewer in frequency so long as he was on the CBDs, but then he had one that he just couldn't come out of.

And so, I had to choose to have the sweetest, gentlest, best boy that I've ever known put to sleep. Hardest day I've faced in such a long time. I've had to say goodbye to dogs in the past, but when it comes so suddenly and you have to make the choice in the moment, it hits differently. I find myself crying whenever I see things that were his, or whenever I'm left alone with my thoughts, but I'm glad that whatever happens after this life, my Bear is no longer suffering.
