Portobello Road Gin - London First established itself in bars and cabinets just under three years ago, it is distilled at Thame Distillery and designed by a team at Portobello Road. With its booming juniper, classic coriander seed core and peppery nutmeg finish, itâs a perfect choice for those who like a classic G&T with a wedge of lime.Â
Final Task - Plymouth Gin
For our final collaborative branding outcomes we have decided to brand the bottles of Plymouth Gin. I started by researching about the brand.
Plymouth Gin was founded in 1793 as a distilling business called Coats & Co, using the Black Friars Distillery, used by Black friar Monks since the 15th century to distil alcoholic remedies for medicine. In 2004 they adopted the name Plymouth Gin. The brand has gone under 3 rebrands so far, the first being in 1998 which was a recreation of the original bottle, the second in 2006 in an art deco style and more recently in 2012, redesigned to a more classic design. In the original and latest design a Black Friar Monk has featured on the bottle with the tagline of âif the gin touches the monks feet itâs time for a new bottleâ
Plymouth Gin produce three types of gin, Original, Navy Strength and Sloe Gin. Each different in every way

The final outcomes of the rebrand are above, we wanted to add elements of where the tea comes from to the packaging by adding native patterns and elements.
Task 1 - Twinings Current Campaigns
Twinigns currently have three advertising campaigns from 2001 - 2016.Â
The first of the TV advertisements is called âGet back to youâ which features a woman traveling through a storm to find calmer waters, this hints that Twinings is a way to calm down after a long day and to relieve yourself from âthe storms of lifeâ
Similar to the last one, âThe Hillâ is a continuation of the sea theme where we see a woman climbing up a hill through fog until she reaches the top to find Twinings. This suggests that after a struggle of climbing through life, Twinings can be a peaceful break and offers serenity.
The final advertisement called âDrink it all inâ features a woman drinking tea who is transported to this new land where everything is made up of Twinings products.

The Brief
Select an existing product and redesign the package design, incorporating an illustrative element. How can you tell a new story through the package design.
Chosen BrandÂ
For the first task we chose to rebrand 3 different versions of tea produced by Twinings. These are Earl Grey, Masala Chai and Rooibos. Â I started by looking at the history of the brand.
1662 - Cathrine of Bragnala introduces tea to England  1684 - Twining family move from Gloucestershire to London, where Thomas Twining stared to learn tea 1706 - Twining buys Tomâs Coffee house and starts the world famous tea business 1707 - Twinings gunpowder green tea sold for a price equivalent to ÂŁ160 for 100g 1717 - Thomas buys the three adjacent houses and converted them into a store, which would become the Twinings flagship store 1787 - Twining chooses a new logo, featuring a Lion and two Chinese men, the lying down lion is a interpretation as respect to the founder and the Chinese men to represent trade with China 1837 - Queen Victoria granted Twinings itâs first royal warrant for tea, appointing them as supplier of tea to her household 1933 - Twinings first blends its English Breakfast 1939 - Tiwnings continues to supply during WWII, also producing tea for POW care packages.
Types of Tea
The three types of tea we have chosen to rebrand are Earl Grey, Rooibos and Masala Cha.
Earl GreyÂ
 - Flavoured with Bergamot to imitate a more expensive Chinese tea  - Assumed to be named after Charles Grey, the 2nd Earl Grey and Prime Minister, who was the author of the Reform Bill of 1832
Rooibos
- Mainly grown in South Africa, used to make herbal tea called Rooibos or bush tea
Masal Chai
- Made by blending black tea with Indian spices and herbs
