Samantha West..., what a great name...it's one of those names you want to meet to see if the name suits the personality, or to just know as a friend. We hope one day to meet this talented lady out of New York City who draws inspiration from the truly feminine form and images makers such as Nan Goldin, Lilian Bassman and Deborah Turbeville. 

We discovered master illustrator/artist Ruben Ireland on the website Society6, when browsing through all the great galleries of fine art from artists all over the world. We loved Ruben's bold and graphic style that captured our attention immediately and did not let go. We reached out to Ruben via his website and were very glad he returned our invitation to guest edit the October issue of KYUR8. Thank you Ruben for curating a memorable issue along with your hand-picked collaborators. 

“There isn’t anyone you couldn’t love once you’ve heard their story.” – Mary Lou Kownacki  ... is a favorite quote by our July Guest Editor Amber Mahoney... who lucky for us, decided to reach out to us and show us her work and how she views the world of photography. We are excited to have Amber kick off summer 2013 with her curated web & mobile zine and her genuine approach to what she loves to do. 

We love it when we get an email saying that they love KYUR8, and then proceeds to shows us versus telling us why they'd make a good guest editor. This month's curator and collaborator is from France and started his photography career very late in the game. He was inspired by his father who was a soldier, and his influences were photo blogs that you might know very well. We are pleased to present to you Viktor Vauthier... a self-made man who we think rocks the D.I.Y. spirit and someone who keeps it sexy for us all. Merci Viktor!

April brings many things… but all we cared about was this dude… our April Guest Editor William Strobeck… who we feel we've known for a very long time… because he reminds us of some people we all know, love, and care about. They are who they are 100% of the time and always wear the same hat. They seem like they are never not working, because what they do… is who they are… and it shows in their character and work. Bill… tell your Mom thank you for us,… she did a fine job good sir.

Hollywood in the 1950's, 60's and 70's, was documented by one of the true pioneers of photography — Bob Willoughby. He was the first 'outside' photographer hired by the major film studios to create images for the popular magazines at that time (LIFE, Look, Harper's Bazzar). Bob's images captured not only a historic era in filmmaking, but his number of technical inventions paved the way for how images are created today. KYUR8 is very pleased to have as Guest Editor this month (our one year anniversary 12th issue), his son, Christopher Willoughby - who has masterfully curated some of his father's legendary work and also shares with us his own photographs. It was truly a pleasure to collaborate with such a classy guy who loves images as much as we do. Thank you for this tribute and dedication Christopher - we salute you.
