Books

I finished The Land of the Silver Apples today. After reading a fantasy book, especially a good one (Like Dragonlance or Nancy Farmer), I end up depressed because I’m not going on adventures. I wish I could go on an adventure. Wait, I will go on an adventure. By myself or with someone who understands my longing. ((Aww, cute. You can see how much little Kyra wants to get away from her parents. You will love your car so much!))

Fantasy books also always set me thinking about God. My approach on religion has been influenced by many books. It’s sort of like how Nancy Farmer puts it. There is a Creator, I think, and people see Him/Her in many different ways. I think of Him as God, but that doesn’t mean that everyone else is wrong.

Here’s the part that’s been influenced by books. God created life. Life is too complicated to be explained by science. We can get down to itty bitty cells, but what makes them live? We know how they work, but what we do not know is how that happened. Humans cannot create life. Only God could. God created the first life, bacteria. He knew that humans would come along. God has a great plan for the Earth. He knew how He wanted everything to turn out when He created the first cells. That put His plan into motion and He intervened when needed, sending miracle workers and prophets, and His Son, Jesus.

((Woah that was pretty crazy. I forgot how big into religion I was. I guess it was because I liked youth group a whole lot, plus I went to church camp every summer and liked that too. And I think I was fresh off (Presbyterian) confirmation as well? I definitely had a huge change of heart during high school that solidified in my first couple quarters at college. But I guess I did have a point; life’s pretty mysterious. It’s not as big of a leap from “no life” to “life” as I seemed to think it was, though. That’s what more education does for you, I guess.))

I don’t know why anyone else thinks that. I guess some must. Maybe fantasy book authors think that!

There was an orchestra concert tonight. Fantasy went really well. I’m very proud of myself! Dumb Ben Carlstrom took my chair for the pieces we played with Symphony Orchestra though. I had to sit in the very back and share a stand with three other people! I don’t like Ben Carlstrom anymore. Not one bit.

Books

I finished The Chronicles of Chrestomanci: Volume II today. If the Chrestomanci is real, I would call him when I am in great need. I really want to see what he is like! Really!

Mom made me practice cello for an hour today. ((woe is you))

I’m reading The Calvin and Hobbes Complete Collection again. Calvin and Hobbes is my favorite comic strip. ((It’s one of the rare good ones))

Today’s completely unrelated statement: I don’t think The Incredibles was on tonight.

Stupid

Mr. White gave us a stupid assignment today that even mom thought was stupid! It was on a Girl Scout website; we found it online.

In math, I learned that the second lifesaver in on both ends of a pack is ALWAYS red. The reason is the Lifesavers company did a survey and found that red was the favorite of all Americans. The reason why it’s second is because when someone sees you opening a pack of Lifesavers, they ask “Can I have one?” So you can give them the yucky flavor on top while you get the red one that’s second! Very cool! ((Uhh I really don’t know if this is actually true))

Today’s completely unrelated statement: Facts are cool!

It’s been ten years now so I’ll be typing it up and posting it under a specific tag. I guess kyrajournal. It’s, ah, pretty cringy at first. I started it because my older cousin who I idolized had one, so I tried to write all dramatic-sounding. I also came up with a “title” for each entry and “signed off”???? You’ll see.

I will eternally be disappointed that I didn’t keep up journaling in college. I stopped once I started staying up really late doing assignments and then just collapsing in bed. I didn’t have a fixed routine anymore so jounaling fell by the wayside. I’m glad I caught the very end of college but that was after all the hard parts where writing might have actually helped a little and it would be cool to look back on. Oh well.
