Old man ABO!!!
Oh man!! So this is coming from a prompt that @sparrowlicious and @jeusus were tossing around ages ago, about an older Hux and Kylo on a vacation at a beach in an a/b/o AU.
It’s a story about an estranged marriage. About differing hormonal drives, and the a/b/o equivalent of menopause. About an inability to be honest about things that are bothering you, and the kind of toll that takes on a marriage over decades.
It’s an exploration of suppressants, and how sometimes those work really great, and sometimes they really don’t, and how damaging that can be to a marriage.
It’s a non-traditional a/b/o narrative--there’s an alpha and an omega, but there’s no mpreg and no discussion of children. In a lot of ways, it’s breaking down my own experiences with hormonal birth control--in that it fucked me up real bad, and while I’m endlessly grateful that it existed, it was also solely responsible for 1.5 breakdowns.
It’s taking a remarkably long time to pull together--there are a lot of time skips, and the story covers both the current beach holiday, as well as decades of their marriage all the way back to the early days, when Kylo had only just showed up on the Finalizer. I’m a little intimidated by it at the moment--partially for the technical work of the timeskips, and partly because of the personal nature of the piece, but I also think it’s a really, really good story, and I’m going to buckle down and get it done.
Thank you for asking!
