questions for fic writers
37. Promote one of your own “deep cut” fics (an underrated one, or one that never got as much traction as you think it deserves!). What do you like about it?
im very lucky in that because i was one of the pioneers of the KLS tag all of my fics have been read to death since for a long time they were the only options lmao
BUT I will say the two that I adore that didn't get as much engagement were Attics, Cardboard Boxes And Other Terrible Repression Strategies & Quid Pro Quo.
i can understand attics because of the subject matter but it remains one of the ones I'm proudest of and one of the main ones that I actually reread. i love complicated metaphors and i loved writing the different ways each of them would handle an Aaron breakdown. I think it was also the first fic where I got to explore Herm's social work background and put it to some narrative use! Quid Pro Quo's lack of popularity is surprising because a) kevron, I thought y'all loved kevron and b) it's based on a real Orlando lore drop. i liked it because of the tension buildup that happens before the sex - and the whole detail about their pinkies touching, then their thighs... yeah
38. Did any of your fics get surprisingly popular (whatever that means to you)? Which ones? Why do you think they were so successful?
cardinal and conclave popped OFF my god. they dont have as much reads as the others but the engagement (comments & kudos) was much higher. im also recognised for those fics outside of Tumblr which is scary lmao (ppl will comment about them on my KLS tiktok). its the smut element for sure but considering quid pro quo didn't get the same amount of love idk what's different. maybe the fact that it has all the Aaron pairings?? conclave was more explicit/freaky than quid pro quo too. maybe people just love helbranch idk
45. What’s something you’ve improved on since you started writing fic?
