Flake Or Die!

Rebel Rouser Hot Rods approached Starr in the fall of 2015 with the simple statement: “We are going to build you a hot rod shop truck.”

“I had done several projects for Kurt from Rebel Rouser over the last few years” says Sean Starr. “We were both on the same page with those earlier projects and shared a love for the heritage of Texas hot rod culture and Kurt has always been a big fan of our traditional sign painting and pinstriping. When they approached us about building us the Sign Painters Hot Rod I knew immediately that they would build something we were proud to put our name on.”

Rebel Rouser took a partially chopped up 1938 Chevrolet pickup and went to work heavily modifying the S-10 frame, built an all new interior and installed a stock 350 V8 small block engine with custom built headers and a high performance Quick Fuel carburetor.

The Build

“We settled in on the design quickly,” explains Rebel Rouser’s Kurt Kuehl. “The main focus on the build was to do honor to Sean’s trade as a Texas sign painter and to create a truck that was unapologetically pure hot rod muscle. I think we accomplished both.”

The Sign Painter’s Hot Rod joins other Rebel Rouser builds in their list of builds; most notably the Black Top Rebel, the 1949 Chevrolet Gasser which is a regular competitor in the vintage Texas Drag Racing scene.
