The covers of volumes 36 and 37 of Blue Lock are designed to fit together. When you place the illustrations of Onazi and Kuso side by side, the chains visually continue, as if the two of them were part of the same moment. It’s a very intentional editorial detail.
Neither of them wears the chain around their neck, which makes it stand out even more. In Blue Lock, chains usually represent a player’s ego. The fact that these two don’t have one means they’re only just beginning to understand this world of ego, and it also reflects how they were tied to a shared, almost familial team vision.
Their colours also speak to each other: Onazi brings raw chaos and energy, while Kuso represents restrained strength and tactical awareness. They’re a duo that complements each other both visually and narratively.

OMIGOD. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. I love this take on their story. I am a bit of a Kuso fan, so seeing him reflect on his past with Onazi and grow from it is so awesome. Seriously this chapter was so refreshing. I loved the whole chapter, but these two pages are definitely my favorites. I LOVE YOU KUSO
Due to Kuso’s absence in the most recent chapter (ch 320), I think he’s off screen having an epiphany.
I’ve always thought Kuso is pretty smart, and that has a lot of potential. We know that he can grasp Blue Lock’s play style, but just not know how to respond to it. So, I think that the time that passed in chapter 320 was being used by Kuso to put together a plan. Think of Isagi and his puzzle pieces; I think Kuso could be doing the same.
Kuso’s absence in this chapter was intentional, and I think the intent was for him to be having epiphanies and realizations, so that Nigeria can pull themselves together in the next chapter. (Maybe he’s unlocking Meta Vision?)
