Describing Kurtis and Gary's relationship.
So, Kurtis used to take care of Gary at the academy since Gary was really quiet and would constantly get into trouble with other students. He also helped Gary to stay in line, constantly reminding him about his meds and stuff (even if Kurtis himself didn't took proper care of his health or reputation at all). At that point, Gary saw his brother as his best friend, Kurtis was 17 and Gary was 15 btw, Kurtis is 3 years older.
The thing is, Kurtis also had his own problems to deal with, he has anger issues and never liked people picking on his brother, sometimes he'd even get into fights because of Gary. Well, most fights would end with Kurtis and the other student going to pay Dr. Crabblesnitch a visit, but one day, one of those fights didn't exactly went well.
Kurtis had enough that day and nearly killed the guy who was picking up on Gary, and because of that, he had to go to juvie, Gary had no one anymore.
I like to think that this happens before the main story of the game, so then Gary meets Pete, then Jimmy and blahblahblah, BOOM, final showdown.
After this whole story, Kurtis finally came back once he heard everything that happened involving Gary, still he noticed the absence of Gary, and then there's a worried Kurtis on Dr. Crabblesnitch's office BEGGING for him to let Gary be enrolled on Bullworth again. Still, Gary never agreed with being nack at the Academy (he had a fucked up reputation after all) and when he heard that Kurtis was also back at school, he just started to avoid Kurtis as much as he could.
(Well, I got this HC that Gary only started to do that crazy stuff because he stopped taking his meds and went crazy, kinda went with this idea for the reason he avoids Kurtis.) Gary felt good without his meds, he didn't saw the danger he was putting himself into, so anyone who ever told him to go back at it was automatically seen as someone bad, and Kurtis was the one who mostly told him to use them, it was one of the first things he asked Gary when they finally had a small chance of talking.
Gary just can't see Kurtis like before, even if his brother hadn't changed at all.
Kurtis understand that, but he still want to try to fix their relationship, he loves his younger brother, no matter what.
I hate them SO MUCH.
