Minus the ren ending there is something that is a little heartbreaking to me about dmmd endings. Aoba puts so much care and love into learning about his partners and understanding who they are and where they've come from but they just. Can't do the same for him because he can't remember.
When koujaku confesses how much the thought of aoba kept him going through some of the worst abuse he'd endured aoba can't tell him about all the ways he fell apart after koujaku left midorijima. He can't tell him about how he fell into drugs and rhyme, how his spiralling self hatred got so many people hurt, some permanently. He can only really say he's sorry.
When noiz talks about his trauma and coping mechanisms aoba clearly relates but can't explain the part where he also started beating the shit out of people in rhyme to cope with being abandoned by nearly everyone he loved.
When aoba finally gets mink to open up about his past he can't really give him that same courtesy. Even if mink knows the broad strokes imo it's not the same as being able to confide in your partner about who you are and where you came from. The same goes for clear honestly.
It's really really sad!!! And it fucks me up bc I feel like aoba could heal a lot and get so much closer with everybody if he could just talk about everything he went through growing up but sly is sorta... Forgotten after toue is dealt with which blows. I also just really want plural aoba lol
