Which kumbong should be paired with your blouse?
As Meranao and Muslim woman one of our major  concern in fashion is our hijab which is commonly referred to as kumbong and how to pair them with our blouse. It's easy to find a gorgeous top and a lovely kumbong but it's way too difficult to simply pair the two.  Here are some of my personal observations. It's up to you if it's a yay or or a nay. 1. Checkered and another checkered is a table cloth or a chess board. 2. Checkered top and a stripe kumbong is like a maze and sometimes it reminds me of  the confusing figures in the aptitude test. 3. Stripe top and a stripe kumbong is a zebra unless your going to a costume party. 4. Floral blouse and a floral kumbong is a garden. Hello botanical fashion! 5. Animal prints plus wild prints is another ah-nimal which is a no-no! But if your off to a costume party then go and get wild. On the other wing, wearing wild prints all over on regular days will make you look like a wild animal lost in the city.  Welcome to jungle safari! 6. Matching colors is safe...Think again. A purple all over is an eggplant, an all shades of pink is a Hello Kitty, orange is an orange and sometimes it reminds me of the jail as well, and an all blue is the sea and the sky. It's okay to wear kumbong and blouse with the same color given that they are not of the same exact tone else, you'll end up looking like a crayon stick. Make sure that the blouse is in darker shade if the kumbong is lighter in color and vise versa. An exception is the color black or white. As what every fashion guru says, black is the safest color. And in my opinion, every Muslim woman should have an abaya as every woman (non-Muslim of course) should have a little black dress. The abaya is the most sophisticated wardrobe for every Muslim woman, it's classic and will never be outdated, it's always in so better raid your mum's closet now! And so is the color white. An all white look is very clean and modest. Darling, picture an angel or a 'diyosa' or a bride, they're all in white from head to toe....words aren't needed anymore. White blouse and a white kumbong, yay or nay? 7. Too much print is an abstract painting. If your wearing a printed blouse make sure the kumbong is plain. Remember, a plain white top when accesorized with a really nice kumbong with bold patterns or a colored one makes a great fashion statement. Mabigat ang dating nun te. So don't ever underestimate the power of your veil. It is not just a square piece of cloth, it can be your weapon to looking fabulous and glamorous and this isn't just an 'Ows?' 8. Too much dots is a Dalmatian so don't ever be spotted with a Polkadot blouse and a Polkadot kumbong too. Please, no more lines and circles so don't add Polkadot and stripe or a checks and a dots. But Polkadot (ME) plus you makes a perfect match though. Yay or nay? Smile. ;) 9. Okay, I know I am not authorized to talk about wearing hijab or kumbong when I myself sometimes fail to even wear one but I'm not going to explain why.  However, I'm suggesting that if you can't act like a Muslim woman should be better take off your veil. What is an aurat, the butt crack or the hair? The cleavage or the hair? It's up to you to judge. You know better, uqhti. I heard posting pictures is even a no in Islam so before you judge other people, check your pages first. How many pictures did you post, models/hijab lover? Okay, you don't have to answer but just follow the tips mention above pero if you think keri lang naman na go na!
