Yes Kaalaa, in a state of shock, digging into Kumar's bloody and still warm body to get the bullet back from her in a panic to undo it all somehow. But consider, Shamane, a man who was content to live the rest of his life in nature to punish his family in some kind of way for throwing away Kumar without hurting them directly. Shamane who went running back into a place he had no desire to go to again so that he could meet the dazzling older sister who changed his world and introduced him to what injustice was, and how blood ties can mean nothing. Imagine that man meeting a group of people who all ended up in the place he was called to together, and come to find out, one of them is his niece. A girl who was mentored by Kumar and practically raised by her, but he has no chance to celebrate with him because time has done ugly things to Kumar. She's no longer the person who he met all those years ago. Before Shamane could even celebrate Kumar making a new family away from their own, Kumar had become someone who chose hate above all else. Kaalaa had to defeat her own mentor, and no matter how manipulative and toxic she could be at times, Kumar was also her mother. Shamane's character story revolves around his journey away from his family and into the woods, and his first experiences with life and death. In becoming the character he is in the present of the game, he learned to help living beings die peacefully while honoring the cycle of life and death. He would've seen the look of someone about to die.
Yes, Kaalaa digging out the bullet from Kumar's skull, but consider him holding back Kaalaa from sprinting in to see her dead mother. Imagine Shamane going in himself and doing the funeral rites for the sister he had longed to see again for so long, and imagine Shamane bringing back the bullet to his niece with his own arms and hands covered in his sister's blood.

What are your thoughts on Kumar?
Depresso, very depresso especially at the end of the event where she completely gives up on everything and can only see the final outcome of her decisions is just to die. God the bullet Kaala has will actually just haunt me in the implications of where she got it and how. And the fact that for a moment she believed she had saves Kumar when reality was so much different.
There is a reoccurring theme within R1999 of researchers being discredited in their own work and an exploration of how they found their resolve to continue afterwards. We see places where this actually worked, Marcus in meeting Madam Hoffman and Windsong meeting Vila. Maybe had Kumar never met the Manus, or potentially had met someone like Vertin since she also is an arcanist (unclear if shes partially human or something else) who at an early age was unable to cast incantations and even now only is able to cast the basic of skills. Maybe a different method could have been found without becoming fatally detrimental to Kumar.
Its so interesting how it is hammered home that people with very little arcanum cannot cast incantations, much less powerful ones. Sometimes you forget that the Hoffmans are arcanists since they have such little arcanist blodd within them (enough to kill them if they consumed picrasma candy)but then again what actually divides the difference between human and arcanist?
So yeah very depresso but also fascinating in how we keep seeing parallels to other characters and the main story.

Context: i didn’t want to simply swap the manus characters with the foundation characters, so i swapped zeno characters with manus instead (so igor and arcana, ptolemy and fmn, etc). Now im just left with the foundation

Shamane’s character event is one of the best because of when it happened in the game. It showed us exactly how arcane creatures behave and adapt to the ecosystem before we got to [Farewell, Rayashki]. Where Windsong told us exactly what arcane creatures are like, and how they merge into the ecosystem alongside humans. Shamane’s job was to be apart of nature and live in harmony with it while being a person. Most notably, the event showed us how creatures like carbuncles, who are the main reoccurring enemy in the game, aren’t entirely feral like we thought. People like Jessica and New Babel can control arcane creatures like carbuncles, in Jessica’s case she can even talk to them, but they don’t necessarily make friends with them and convince them to fight by their side.
