Eggs were kind of a luxury considering you had to harvest them from trees and they were very fragile. Apparently, chickens weren’t really a widespread thing in this universe. They could only be found in the remote mountain region and they weren’t super well known.

Something I do enjoy about this scene though is the atmosphere.

We went from the color vibrant world of Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear to Yuna’s previous life on Earth. Her apartment is large, cold, and empty. It’s colored like a hospital room. Hell, even her clothing looks like a hospital gown!

There’s literally no music for this part, which just adds to the oppressive loneliness of the scene. And through a phone call with her grandfather we see a very brief glimpse on how she got to spend all her time in this lifeless room. Though considering how many people don’t fully get what’s going on here, I see a lot of misunderstandings.

Basically to sum it up, Yuna’s grandfather is the owner of a conglomerate, a very wealthy self-made man. He had three sons, Yuna’s dad being the third.

Yuna’s parents are like, the black sheep of the family. They go on lavish vacations for months or even years on grandpa’s dime and never actually be home. When Yuna herself came into money, they started begging her for vacation change.

Her uncles and cousins have all but disowned her, writing her off as the daughter of her parents. Her grandfather saw Yuna for who she was, but she always refused his help out of stubborness, and the fact he wanted her to join the family business.

Because of this, Yuna has always been alone, practically raising herself from a very young age. Because of this, she’s gained a strong sense of individualism, only ever having faith in her own abilities as they were solely the reason she’s survived this far.

Hmmm, you might have a point there. Well, I mean, hmmm...

Here’s a thing about the setting: large settlements like Crimonia tend to cut down on the population of dangerous monsters in the area. Like, they’ve intentionally wiped them out over the centuries until the only monsters in the local forest are low level monsters that reproduce quickly, like goblins and wolves.

In order to encounter more dangerous enemies, you need to deviate away from Crimonia and away from the main road to the capitol (as that road is fairly heavily hunted as well so commerce is relatively unmolested.)

So the possibility of Crimonia of being attacked by a large monster is slim because of centuries of adventurers doing their thing.

However, there may have been a time where that wasn’t as true and there were powerful enemies in the local forest. Maybe the walls were erected then?

I love how the big snake gets a reaction shot from Yuna coming back from getting flung into a boulder without a single scratch on her xD

I love when an adventurer later recounted this story to a bunch of rookies (fan translation, sorry for quality):

The black viper was the monster subjugation that put Yuna on the map and the monster kill she’s most famous for in universe.

Mostly because she starts covering up her accomplishments after this point.
