Looking at the behind the scenes of the new Silent Hill movie just made me sick. The director/writer is an IDIOT.
I like how, right off the bat, he starts talking about how awesome Silent Hill 1 was and how much he loved it (Good.) but then they show footage of the most recent installment of the game series to overlay him speaking. Nice job, editors. Because that's not blasphemous at all. Nothing like a reminder of Silent Hill's transfer to American developers to make the fans feel like shooting things in the face.
"Silent Hill 3 [the game]... was a natural successor to the story of the little girl from the first movie..."
...excuse me? Tell me, Mr. Director, which came out first -- the first 4 games or the movie spin-off?
"...which I thought was really, really honest and pure to the game world."
Again, excuse me? The only aspect of that movie that was honest to the game world was the fact that it was about a parent looking for their child. NOTHING ELSE in that movie was pure to the game world. They mixed in monsters like a tossed salad and butchered the plot for the sake of horror. They gender-swapped everything, made Alessa an evil witch, turned her mother into a hobo, and created some religious leader to spout dark sermons and blasphemy just because they needed to include the religious part of SH. There was no symbolism, no mystery, no silence, and no psychological aspect that were all present in the game series.
The only person in that video that was talking sense was the actress playing Heather. Thank goodness she gets it. If only a little bit.
Call me old-fashioned, or some bitter woman mad about nothing, whatever. But Silent Hill is important to me and I hate that these people claim to know what it's about, but are actually just ruining the whole idea of it. They keep mentioning "staying true" to the series, when they're not doing that at all. It's just. Ugh.
