I was disappointed in the relient k album at first too. But it's only disappointing if you don't understand it. It seems shallow and not as good as the other albums until the song collapsible lung because all the other songs are how he tried to fill his life with shallow things after his break up with his fiance and collapsible lung is like his repentance when he came back to God. He basically tells a story with the album.
I guess it'll grow on me over time. I'm slowly getting used to it. The first album I listened to was Forget And Not Slow Down so you can see why I thought it was different. Still, I think 5 Score' will always be their best album. Simply for the masterpiece that is Deathbed.

Shit, I was halfway through typing out my response when I understood what you mean.
1. "Don't Blink" beginning of relationship
2. "Boomerang" middle-ish part I guess. I don't know, I guess it's about a relationship's durability. I haven't listened too closely to the lyrics yet.
3. "Lost Boy" praise for who I assume was his fiance
4. "If I Could Take You Home" okay here is where I am confused. Thiessen was allegedly "unfaithful," as his fiance put it. So this song could either be about the fiance, OR it could be about an affair.
5. "Can't Complain" nothing has gone wrong in this album yet. If the last song was about an affair, then this song is the time period between that and his relationship with his fiance.
6. "Gloria" basically a breakup song.7. "PTL" could this have been about an affair? or possibly his now-ended relationship. Either way, it has that familiar taste of Relient K-esque regret you can see in the end of "Which to Bury; Us or the Hatchet?" and the beginning of "Let It All Out" in Mmhmm. These new songs don't contrast as much as the hard guitar and piano ballad do in Mmhmm, but it's essentially the same idea: a rough breakup song, then regret.
8. "Disaster" this song could easily be an explanation-song for why the relationship was going bad.
9. "When You Were My Baby" another song filled with regret. This song is obviously about his fiance.
10. "Sweeter" classic RK ballad again explaining what was wrong in his relationship.
11. "Collapsible Lung" "Between the miles of open road/I lost sight of what might matter the most" -his repentance after what happenedThank you, Tumblr user krizcutfries for helping me figure out what this album's deal was. It honestly just made me realize how good the album is if you look at it how I just explained. Thank you, thank you, thank you :)
