So today, I found @badendbirds Bad End TAZ AU. And I instantly fell in love with it and felt the urge to make some quick fanart, because it's beautiful! ❤️

Their Taako design is super cool and unique, and (in this 'verse) also very crystal. Poor guy.

But anyway, have him doing some dope shit, because even if half his body is made out of crystal, he's still a badass fucking wizard! (Also I gave him the Krebstar because seriously, that thing is peak High Fantasy badassery and we don't see nearly enough of it!)

Hello there. The cosplay season is upon us. I was working on my Taako costume and tried to put together a Krebstar. However I noticed that there wasn’t a walkthrough to make one. I thought I would share how I made mine in case anyone wanted to use it for ideas.

In the balance arc Justin describes the Krebstar as looking like the glaive from Krull but all bedazzled. In case you are unfamiliar the Krull glaive looks like this:

You can actually order a replica of this but from what I could find it cost a lot. If you have metalworking tools you could perhaps just make it but I have no experience with metal. So here’s a list of what I used:

Metal Starfish sign

Set of throwing knives

Gold-colored wire (a lot)

Fake gems with a flat back

Fancy beads

Hot glue gun

I started off with this guy as my base. (That’s my dachshund Buddy in the background.)

I also got a set of short knives. These came dull and I picked a rainbow set to add some flair.

After getting these together I set them up against the star at an angle to give it a little curvy-ness, like so.

After that I used hot glue to affix them, which worked pretty well. Just watch your fingers if you do the same.

After the knives are on there you have the general shape, but the knives look pretty ugly in my opinion. To obscure them, I wrapped the arms of the star in two different gauges (or thicknesses) of gold wire. You could also do something with foam or leather if you wanted. This was just what occurred to me.

Please note this makes the thing a lot more heavy as well as taking a bunch of wire. I ended up using about twice as much as I initially got. (The assisting cat is named is Morrie Zuko.)

The finished wire looks okay and makes the knives look more natural. On to decoration.

I just picked up a bunch of fake gems and some beads. I put them on both sides with some hot glue.

So that’s how it turned out. Not a perfect match but a lot cheaper and I think it’s pretty. Feel free to do something similar if you like.
