it was a relief to still see her student inside the classroom despite it has been a few minutes passed dismissal. the last thing chisa wanted to do was swim through crowds of students in a large academy such as hope’s peak academy.

“...sonia-san?”

she knocked on the door as quietly as she could, though her voice was a bit strained. she’d heard from the others that the former princess of novoselic hadn’t yet appeared outside her room that day, and she feared the worst-- as she often did. “hanamura-kun made some apple pie... i brought you some. it’s still warm.”

“...it’s a change of pace to sleep in here, anyway...”

Chiaki had dragged her futon mattress and her pillow into Sonia’s room a few minutes prior, having asked the other girl if she could stay there for the night. A few things remained unspoken on the tip of her tongue: That since Junko had locked her up, sleeping alone opened the way for countless nightmares which she could not escape from, that she was sorry for the way she’d treated her as a Remnant, and, perhaps, that she’d had yet another argument with Hajime over her caffeine intake, and she didn’t want the awkward silence of sleeping in his room that night.

She’d banished herself to the couch, so to speak. Did this just look like another way for her to be passive aggressive at him? Probably. She’d apologize later-- maybe, possibly-- but for now, she just wanted the company of somebody she didn’t find to be so patronizing. (They’re all just trying to look out for you, said the more rational side of her at the back of her head. You should let them in. And then maybe Naegi-kun would stop threatening to cut off your internet access.)
