this is going to only make sense to like. three of you probably. but with the toku to bl pipeline I feel like there’s a small part of me that’s idly… okay remember the dvd idle screen where it bounces around and you stare at it to see if it hits the corner perfectly? that’s what sento and banjou’s actors costaring in a bl drama would be. if it ever happens I hope it’s a series that makes for compatible aus. ALSO BANJOU WAS IN CALIFORNIA FOR A CON???? thats so crazy. thanks banjou for all you’ve done. sometimes I remember that onari is in nyc (I think they’re still there?) and it blows my mind. everybody say thank you onari.

Rewatching build, I love how much of it is one character going ‘I am genuinely worried about you but I know if you knew that I was trying to protect you, you’d throw yourself into danger anyway, so I’m going to pretend I’m being an arrogant jerk and keeping you from getting stronger for the sake of my own ego’ and another character going ‘I know you’re putting up a front, dumbass, and I know you’re trying to deal with everything by yourself, and I know you’re lying to protect me, but I’m going to do the exact same thing and do whatever you’re trying to protect me from so I can get stronger but I’m also going to pretend it’s for my ego. idiot.’

I was thinking ‘huh, geed’s soundtrack really reminds me of build, wonder if it’s by the same composer’ & it is! I’m a fan of kawai kenji’s work

so when is gentoku gonna star in a bl

Kazumin in hazard arc really shows off his cool sides. just a very successful vibe of pretends not to care, cares a lot, is fine setting himself up as The Villain but still offers unambiguous words of comfort to the people he’s supposed to fight. It’s a pretty interesting blend of being more grounded than sento’s idealism, but still retaining a lot of compassion (however it’s expressed). It’s just interesting how controlled he’s portrayed without it ever diminishing how much everything affects him. Also while he has his catchphrase what I really like is the dialogue quirk of shouting out that set of three nouns because it’s really… hot-blooded! Describing it sounds dumb as hell & I can’t look up quotes but when he’s shouting stuff like passion! heat! fury! I can’t help but get hyped by his energy

we’re rewatching build and we’ve gotten to hazard arc which is THE most build per build. it’s good drama… “he cares about you” “I know, so much it hurts” and the part where sento goes “it has to be you, we made build together” it’s just SO tasty. I also feel like I notice a lot of really good silences. they do just let characters sit without a monologue. also there are so many scenes where you can point at the screen and go. Dishonest Men. the MOST build per build.

thinking about how gentoku got a redemption arc and went full Like That because the actor’s daughter was scared of his character and he was like. can I be a goofy character now I don’t want my daughter to be scared of me
