6. Does your character have recurring themes in their dreams?
He tries not to. Kratos has grown not to enjoy sleep, partly because it becomes disorientating to wake up, but partly it's the dreams.
If he's going to dream, it often features people he's lost and either culminates in his losing them again or he wakes up and experiences the pain of the loss anew.
He also dreams of war.
11. In what situation was your character the most afraid theyâve ever been?
At the moment that Anna's exphere was removed, Kratos felt a kind of hopeless fear he had never felt before and has never felt since. Having to defend his son and Noishe from his wife was the worst situation he's ever had to navigate. There was no way to win. There was no way to save them both.
And through his inability to kill his wife, he lost the rest of his family.

31. Describe a scenario in which your character feels most comfortable.
[ Character Development Questions: Hard Mode - Accepting ]
Kratos is man who has never known true peace. Even in the gentler times, the quieter times, he has not been able to rest without knowing either that time is running out to do what needs to be done or that the world is suffering while he fails to fix it.
However, there are times when he is surrounded by his family, the one he found and the one he made, in which he can forget, in which he can simply enjoy their company. It's when he feels a warm back against his or soft fur under his hand.
Family and friends. That is comfort to him
-
That being said, the time he feels most certain is in combat. That is where his skills lie. When there is a sword in his hand and a battle to be fought, he can sometimes cease to be who he is and instead be absorbed by the battle.
He won't admit it, but he finds a difficult fight freeing provided the only danger is to himself.
44. How easy or difficult is it for your character to say âI love you?â Can they say it without meaning it?
[ Character Development Questions: Hard Mode - Accepting ]
Kratos finds it incredibly difficult to vocalise his feelings but when he does put something into words of that gravity, he means it. He finds it difficult to lie at the best of times, preferring to be vague to manipulate the interpretation of his words over outright lying. But he never lies about things as serious as this.
For Kratos, his love is mostly expressed through action or through wishes that a person take care or be safe.
He aims to protect his loved ones, not burden them. Unfortunately that sometimes means not being allowed to be too close.
⧠describe their usual sleeping position, â what is one of their favorite items?
[ Headcanon meme | Accepting! ]
⧠describe their usual sleeping position
While travelling, Kratos can sleep seated and sleeps lightly. But when he is able to relax, he typically sleeps on his back. He sleeps deeply but can be a restless sleeper and typically runs warm so he'll often kick blankets away.
When sharing a bed, he prefers to sleep on his side, with his back facing and close to the person he is sharing with, sometimes touching.
â what is one of their favorite items?
His locket is the obvious answer. It is the most important item he owns that has no practical function. Within it are his memories of the family he lost. As long as he holds it close, he holds them close. He believes that this way, his memories of them can never fade, no matter what may happen to him.
If we're talking practical items, Flamberge is very important to him. It was forged in his dad's shop and given to Kratos as a gift. He's carried it and cared for it for all of this time. He maintains that there is no better blade.
Kratos is efficient when it comes to keeping himself and his workspace/living areas clean. However, it's not that he regularly tidies and more that he's the sort of guy who always returns things to their rightful place. So it's less that he's a tidier and more that he doesn't really make mess.
He tries to maintain basic hygiene as much as he can - including on the road. (He is more fortunate than most though in the fact that he can choose not to sweat.)
8:Â Favorite indulgence and feelings surrounding indulging
The sweet release of death
Kratos doesn't fully understand the concept of 'indulgence'. He has no interest fine foods or wines. To Kratos, it is an indulgence to allow himself to spend time with Lloyd and his friends - and that's his favourite one.
Other indulgences include rest and reading. He enjoys reading periodically but rarely allows his body the opportunity to be still for that long.
18:Â Favorite beverage?
Tea, because there are a great number of different options when it comes to tea. Caffeine has not affected him in quite some time but he enjoys a beverage that can be enjoyed at any time of day.
He also enjoys holding a hot cup of something. It reminds him of different times.
32:Â Thoughts on material possessions in general?
Kratos views material possessions as largely uncessary... except for the ones that aren't. He does not care for expensive items, wealth or having a lot of stuff.
He cares about functional objects, objects he needs to survive, and things with great sentimental value such as his locket and flamberge. He is the sort of person who will take care of an old item for a long time and only replace it when it becomes unusable.

43. How far did they get in formal education? What are their views on formal education vs self-education?
This particular Kratos was born into the Kharlan War in a small village close to Ozette. He initially lived alone with his mother outside of the village and didnât attend the village school until he was eight years old. Having never really mingled with other children or had learnt to read or write yet made it tough for him to blend in, so he was often attempting to get out of it.
His Dad helped him a lot with learning to read and write. Heâs naturally very good at picking up languages and remembering histories. Maths was more of a challenge for him.
He didnât start to put effort into his studies until he moved to Meltokio and secured a place at the military academy partly due to string pulling by his biological father). From there, he got a good education, though of course, it was all geared towards usefulness in the war effort.
He feels there is an element of self-education to all types of learning if a person hopes to excel in a subject. But that it varies between subjects. For physical tasks, he believes in the necessity of the input of a skilled instructor. He believes in self improvement, but also understands the importance of a guide.
45. Superstitions or views on the occult?
If asked, Kratos would say that he isnât superstitious. But superstitions are more deeply ingrained into him than he realises. Growing up in the Gaoracchia, he heard a lot of âOld Wivesâ Talesâ and abided by the suggestions put forward in them without really questioning it.
He still believes there are elements of truth to some of them but he would only admit to this surrounding the Gaoracchia.
However, he still avoids walking under ladders and breaking mirrors, knows rhymes for seeing different types of birds and has conflicting views about fate.
46. Do they express their thoughts through words or deeds?
Both. When it comes to practical matters, or has something to do with safety, Kratos doesnât mince his words. He can be very blunt and harsh about getting concepts across.
But when it comes to more delicate matters, Kratos isnât so good at expressing emotions. Heâs either a very quiet person, or he will skirt around an issue with a vast amount of words, none of which say directly what heâs trying to get across, but hopefully whoever is listening can decipher his point.
He mostly shows he cares with the actions he takes instead of words, but if he ever directly says âI love youâ then he means it 100%. He doesnât use those words lightly. They tend to come out if he thinks his chances to say them are limited or he needs to make certain that a person is aware of how much he cares about them.

30 Days of Detailed Character Development - Kratos Edition, Day 6
Why do they have their resources? How long have they had them, and how have they served the character over time? (Ex. Contacts, money, political power, fame, etc.)
WARNING: This is my personal Kratos and perhaps not strictly canon. Itâs also very old and very long. Future posts will be in bullet points.
Initially, Kratos had absolutely nothing. He was a country boy, raised as the son of blacksmith, not great in school, never remotely neat looking. In actuality, he was the bastard son of a high-ranking officer and nobleman and an assassin who had masqueraded as a prostitute.
During his academy examination period, he interested somebody quite important in the practical section, and so managed to graduate in spite of having less than stellar grades in mathematics.Â
After that, he made a pretty powerful enemy in the form his faction leader, when, after his first experience of real battle, he deliberately disobeyed orders and deserted his post in order to warn a small half-elf settlement that they needed to evacuate immediately.
He was incredibly lucky not to have been killed on the spot, but the decision was that he should be brought back to Meltokio to be made an example of. I'm not getting into the politics, but thanks to an intervention from the person who first noticed him, Kratos got even luckier and was instead sentenced to perform all sorts of menial tasks in service to the city.
This lead to him ending up as a gate guard and meeting Princess Soleil. The princess tripped up a step and he caught her, addressing her much more commonly than he should do, not knowing quite who she was. To cut a long story short, she found it refreshing and continued to visit him while he was stationed there, eventually leading to all sorts of encounters.
This friendship with Soleil and his advancement through the ranks as time went by actually gave him much more political power than he ever realised he had. Kratos being Kratos however, did not get involved in very much at all, although it gained him a lot of contacts within the military and the nobility. The Queen preceding Soleil was also quite fond of him. He was quite afraid of her.
Kratos' actions were never really altered by his rank. He tended to act based on his own ideals, regardless of political repercussions he might face. Soleil's protection actually saved him from a lot of backlash, particularly considering that he was a known half-elf symphathiser.
Due to his meteoric rise through the ranks, his idealistic leadership, and some big promises that he later broke quite spectacularly, Kratos was very well known, but regarded as eccentric. It didnât help his case that, in spite of his high salary and hefty inheritance, he continued to live alone in a two bedroom house.
Following the attack on Meltokio of course, Kratos the noble officially âdiedâ, and his assets were split, as per his will, between the family of his second-in-command and his adopted father. This included all of his money, worldly possessions, the small house in Meltokio, and his fatherâs estate in the region of Altamira.
Now, Kratos again has very little. He has built himself a small abode, but he spends most of his time travelling from place to place occasionally taking whatever work he can.
He also carries his Cruxis Crystal wherever he goes, but currently does not have it equipped.
