#kpoppy

So something I have kind of an issue with is Army calling people Kpoppies as an insulting term. Like they blanket everyone who listens to Kpop as a "kpoppy" in the most negative ways but argue Army are not a monolith and people over state the toxicity of the fandom.

Like these blogs and accounts dismiss anything army does as protection and retaliation for BTS being treated "poorly" by everyone apparently.

They say "kpoppies" are so racist but they do exactly the same things to other groups. It doesnt make sense to me.

They demand that everyone worship BTS and play/buy into the false and overplayed narratives surrounding BTS. Like the whole "bts are the punching bags of Kpop". I have followed them since pre debut. Like from a preteen until now. Army now have really twisted a lot of shit to suit them.

It really annoys me that these blogs just have such a superiority complex when they are literally so toxic.

I would be really interested to hear your perspective as a fan from pre-debut until now. The punching bag thing is hard for me to understand because I don't see what they went through that others from small agencies didn't. There are SO many debuts each year, and many from agencies who can't afford to send trainees to LA etc. Also, as men in the industry, they already have so many privileges their female counterparts don't.

If you look at their historical album sales, as the quality of their music improves, so do their sales. HYYH was the watershed moment that allowed them to cement their place in the genre. And yes - IN the genre. I think the differentiation from the genre is purely marketing and/or ideological musing to suit xenophobic fans who are uncomfortable being fans of such a genre.

That's how I see this army vs kpop thing. It feels super xenophobic coming from international fans. We should be embracing the genre, not putting it down. The genre can be both global and Korean; and that's a wonderful thing.
