I had the good fortune of spending most of the morning with @mark_kostabi today. He was gracious with his time (as he always is) and signed a number of things for various clients. He always seems interested in what people have to say ... and has an ability to make a person feel like they're the only other one in the room. We talked, he signed some things for my clients & catalogues that would go into the gift bags in preparation for the 100 concierges that would descend upon us at 6pm along with their sponsor, @wheresanfrancisco. He played the piano and practiced for a while. #mark_kostabi is a brilliant artist who has his work in over 50 museums. He is a gifted composer and a supremely talented musician. I have about 10 or 12 minutes of inadequate video, taken from my iphone with a lot of ambient noise...but Instagram allows 60 seconds ... so the rest will come another time or I'll post to facebook. I always feel the need to apologize for shaky videos. I am reminded of a Warhol quote which I would bastardize so I'll paraphrase it: "The lighting is bad, the camerawork is bad, the projection is bad, but the people are beautiful." I'm also experimenting almost all the time with one thing or another. Recently it is "forced perspective". You'll understand if you watch the video. #mark_kostabi #martinlawrencegallery #martinlawrencegallerysf #martinlawrencegalleries #music #kostabimark #forcedperspective [email protected]
