I headcannon that Hashirama “distributed” the bijuu based on a total sum of 9.

Thus, I hc it that the 3 wars were in part due to jinchuuriki snatching. We saw Kumo try to kidnap Kushina, and it’s possible that was due to her being the new kyuubi jinchuuriki. After all, before her it was Mito - someone they most likely didn’t want to mess with. Kushina was still young and new to being the jinchuuriki, thus an easier target.

In my hc, the distribution was as follows: Suna got Shukaku(1) and Gyuuki(8), Iwa got Son Goku(4) and Kokuou(5), Kumo got Matatabi(2) and Choumei(7), Kiri got Isobu(3) and Saiken(6), and Konoha got Kurama (9).

Konoha, Iwa, and Kiri have kept their same bijuu, but the others got redistributed in war.

Taki got Choumei from Kumo, who got Gyuuki from Suna.

Mira: Alright, we’ve got the stu - h-hold on . . . 

Kokuou: What?

Haru: Wha’s th’holdup?

Mira: (glaring)

Janera: . . . What.

Mira: Why do you have that.

Janera: I have NO fuckin’ idea what you’re talking about, Mira.

Mira: On your back. What is that.

Janera: (grabs case on back) HEY now - 

Haru: So she’s got a guitar. Wha’s th’ probl’m?

Kokuou: Wait, what?

Mira: Why do you have a guitar? Kokuou clearly said ‘bring a weapon’. Not a musical instrument.

Janera: . . . (glares) How DARE you say Guillermo del Tuno is a mere INSTRUMENT.

Haru: (whispering) del Tune-o?

Janera: Everywhere I go, I take del Tuno with me. He is my muse, my inspiration! My reason of fucking BEING! You wanna start throwin’ shade at Tuno, then I’ll start throwin’ shade at your crappy make up bag! 

Mira: You shut up RIGHT now about Gudetama. 

Kokuou: (sighs and walks over) Alright, gonna diffuse this before blood hits the wall again. Jane, I said bring a weapon.

Janera: Yes.

Kokuou: And . . . your guitar - 

Haru: del Tuno!

Kokuou: DEL TUNO . . . is not a weapon.

Janera: Yes he is.

Kokuou: (sighs and pinches nerves) How - 

Janera: Kokuou. Dude. If it’s one thing I’ve learned in life, it’s that the one weapon you need . . . (pulls crimson painted guitar from bag and wraps it around neck) IS MUSIC.

Kokuou: . . . 

Haru: (nods oddly)

Mira: (blinks) So, you’re gonna make their ears bleed with how bad your voice is.
