Sometimes being lazy with your current asset is better then remaking a whole comic, especially for stuff like this. I have had, quite the annoyance about this and since the user clearly do not care about what I have to say I'll rant over here instead because OH BOY does it not happen just to me but so many artist out there. Sometimes people think commenting "OH it looks just like X" is a compliment and clearly it is meant to be sweet and the person do not know that is actually hurts the creators they're sending comment to. Comparing designs doesn't feel like a compliment to the artist it sounds like "OH, your work looks like this you must have used it as an inspiration! You have no imagination!" Usually I do not care, because I know at the end of the day, that person didn't mean any harm. HOWEVER this comment was far from cordial. These type of people see something that they don't like, thinking it looks similar to someone else's work and PURPOSEFULLY decide to ruin someone's day by accusing you of copying a design and let me be clear. Just because something LOOKS similar, doesn't mean the artist copied said design. I have a rule of thumb when it comes to fakemon design. I never look at others work as reference. When I work on a design, the only reference I gather are pictures of the animal, object or concept I want to use for said design. When countless of people work on a similar subject, elements are bound to repeat itself in one way or another. And for an artist who just want to draw with passion and do things for fun, getting that kind of comments is just plain hurtful. These types of people are immature and clearly don't understand what being an artist is. And you know what ? I'm gonna be petty on this one, I'm gonna draw my mon with said "similar" design next to one another, mon that I didn't know until this week. BEHOLD.
