I wanna talk about Kodi Lee. I love him, he's amazing, I just...he's just such a good singer and wonderful person too I really hope he wins.
But what I wanna focus on is all the abled bodied people's comments. Specifically this one comment I saw, saying "he's blind and autistic and he can do all this, what's your excuse?"
Kodi is literally a musical prodigy. He has a special talent that almost nobody else has. Being blind doesnt interfering with his ability to go on stage and sing really well (as we can easily see by Robert Finley). Being autistic also doesn't interfere with going on stage and giving a performance like that. Probably being autistic is part of the reason why Kodi can sing so well and have such vast musical talent.
Kodi is a classified musical genius. He was born able to have this natural affinity to playing instruments and producing beautiful music. I'm not saying he hasn't worked hard at it to become as good as he is now, I'm saying that someone else can't just work hard and be like him.
So that comment "what's your excuse" reallllyyyy rubbed me the wrong way because nobody else can be like Kodi except for Kodi. And saying that "he's blind and autistic" as two things he had to greatly overcome to give such a masterful performance, is false.
I hate when abled bodied people use people with disabilities who are successful, sometimes because of their disability, and say it is despite of their disability.
