@koalium asked for a visit to the Polar Tang!
Two cups are laid on the table between them, warm and steamy against the cold air of the North Blue. Law is comfortably withdrawn into his coat, reaching briefly to take his own cup and sip a bit of the herbal tea, letting the aroma and the taste fill in his tired mind. It has been a long day, one that foresaw and equally long night, in his daily battle against sleep. But, this time, he is glad to at least not be alone.
Crossing paths with the Revolutionary Army was never amongst his calculations, yet the sea brings forth allies where one least expect them. Despite their collaboration, he never believed he would see them again after that chance meeting, at least until the officer called Koala proved him wrong. There to see Bepo, she would say, that always present smile on her face. As annoyed as it made him, she always made sure to ask the proper way, and he could see it made his best friend happy to see her; so, Law grudgingly allowed her presence on the ship, unwilling to press the matter further.
Ever since then, her visits had gone from occasional minor annoyances to just another part of his life, if not his routine despite their own difficult, ever-changing schedules. Law would hardly admit to it, but her presence has grown on him to a point where he wonders about her safety, when the time between her visits drags for too long. Still, he trusted her skill. No matter how long it took, the young revolutionaire always managed to find her way back to her unlikely friends. Like tonight, as he brewed tea in the kitchen of his submarine, having boarded earlier when they reached port.
“Trouble sleeping, Koala-ya?” The captain studies her from over the edge of his cup, breaking in the comfortable silence with the thought on the back of his mind ever since she showed up in the morning. “You look pretty tired.”

thump thump thump. from behind walls, cracked in between a space perfectly meant for two, surrounded by loaded boxes, a slight whiff of gunpowder and the taste of char, the pair awaits in hiding and peers through the only corner of light to catch the sight of a few marine soldiers speaking among themselves, a brief convening before they were quick to disperse. the thumping increases -- not belonging to the any footsteps nor the steady organ that beats behind a cage, but rather, ticks of impatience, drumming from fingertips and foot taps; it’s an ache to fight, feeling the storm that whirls within his cursed blade. above all, however, it’s the lighter swing of his left ear, a missing gold ornament that met its disappearance from a careless fist much earlier in the day.
he was insistent on getting it back in spite of logical responses heard from the revolutionary member ( it just wouldn’t be the same to buy another one when he can get it back so easily ... ) as a result, it’s the two of them that re-infiltrates the marine’s quarters, where the last beatings look place. a stealth mission, much to the swordsman’s disdain and it shows with the passing of time; the longer they spent within, the more he feels something else could be done to get the small piece of jewelry -- a faster method, possibly more violent but sufficient ( to him ) overall.
any thoughts pauses with a light tap at his shoulder and a pointed finger, directing his eye to look outside once more and there, a shine of something special can be recognized on the ground and he’s hasty to get up, out of the cramped space but he feels a tight grip tug at his stomach band, a ( fortunate ) hold to stop him from proceeding ... all koala receives back is an irritated glare, meant to convey " why ?! “ an explanation was eventually found with another pair of approaching steps, a bigger figure -- presumably the captain of the marine base and they stay, seemingly overlooking the rest.
the swordsman stares at the placement of the new figure, particularly at their feet where sole meets dirt ground and juuuuust centimeters away ... is his precious jewelry, lying and unable to move. he glances back at koala, a look of discontent as she shakes her head no ... but since when did he start to listen to other people ? ........
aaaand just before noticing the flash of an ever so familiar expression of “ don’t do it ” on the other’s visage, the wooden boxes crashes over and he’s already on his feet, a determined grin adorned on his lips, ready to start a commotion.
