The disheartening truth about microplastics...@orbmedia recently did a study that tested for microplastics in a variety of different branded bottled waters. And results showed that 93% of samples had an estimate of 325 particles of microplastics in each bottle. And to think that’s what so many of us are injesting in our bodies every day. But microplastics are also being found in our tap water now and of course, 100% exist in our oceans that then find its way in our food chain. . In Vancouver, @oceanlegacy is spearheading the #BePlasticWise campaign where every month they’ll be offering tips and challenges to encourage the community to reduce single-use plastic consumption for the year. “The threat of plastic waste in our ocean is a real challenge to both aquatic life and marine ecosystems. Plastic contamination is found from pole to pole, so the high levels of microplastics we’re finding in an ocean city as green as Vancouver raise the question: what does this mean for other parts of the world that are not as pristine?” . Follow their campaign if you’re interested in seeing how even as an individual you can make a difference.
