Tubbs answers the door warily, "yeah? What is it now, chump? My offer is final. Five grand...." Lips form the shape of a perfect “o” in astonishment and she allows the rest of the statement to vaporize mid-air. 

Her gaze softens infinitely at the sight of the debonair stranger before her instead of the disgruntled drug dealer she had just sent away not more than twenty minutes ago.

This was supposed to be a simple and clean bust. Tubbs’s orders were to deliver the money, collect the drugs, and the suspects. Yet, cases like this, the ones that should be a sinch, never did go as planned. Did they? 

The deal itself went down without a hitch. However, before she can shout the words, “freeze, Miami Vice,” everything seemed to go straight to hell in the proverbial hand-basket. Someone had blown her cover and all of the suspects took off running towards a getaway car.  

Tubbs would be damned if she’d let six months of hard work go straight down the flusher! Ricki races into the intersection, her gun drawn. “FREEZE! VICE!” She belts out at the top of her lungs. A majority of suspects must have hearing problems, for they scarcely did as they were instructed. These guys were no exception. Defiantly, they slip into a car with tinted windows. When she realizes she can not run them down or outrun them, she assumes a defensive stance. 

The engine roars to life with an astounding ease. The wheels squeal into motion. 100 yards of distance between her and the fleeing vehicle starts closing rapidly. Headlights lock the cop in their crosshairs. A shudder steals down her spine as she relentlessly stands her ground, her feet remaining firmly planted in place. 

Tubbs is counting on them to slow down to avoid hitting her.  She fires several shots into the windshield. Yet, that is not enough to compel the suspects to cease their plight. The car continues to barrel straight for her. 

All that is left for her to do is brace for the impact.
