River rested her head back against the sofa, legs crossed at the ankle and propped on the coffee table. "Maybe it's time I pester him into buying cake - what do you think?"

She was rather offended there hadn't been cake at any point after - but River also asked because maybe Ruby wanted cake after all that came with traveling with the Doctor.

A nice, sugar induced break.

A step away from the stress, because as much as she too loved to travel with her spouse and go on adventures, it never made it less stressful. Especially for the younger ones who were still finding their way in the world, the universe.

And the Doctor didn't always understand that, never grasped how others had limits sometimes.

"Okay, before annoying him for cake - how are you? Really, not just the typical answer you give when you're asked."

"Oh, this old man of mine. He missed you a lot, did he tell you that?" River glanced at where the Doctor sat with Wilf and Rose, looking perhaps the happiest she had ever seen him in all the years she's known him - in both her timeline and his.

He finally had a family, a home. And she was happy to get to witness it first-hand. More than a few times had she hoped to see it, to be a part of it, and for once the universe allowed them to just be. All River had dreamed of in one place where she least expected it and had given up all hope - yes, they had had Darillium, but it seemed there was still more in store for them. For how long, she wasn't sure.

But she was exceptionally glad the Temple-Nobles were there with them.
