Looking back at a lot of bsky post from last year...this is how i feel about all of these studio wars discussions

A lot of these "the virgin pixar the chad sony/dreamworks" mfs sure where obnoxious as fuck, and I agree that people have forgotten that movies are for entertainment and not for waging silly wars

But man, It's not like the disney and pixar stans have been any better in these discussions 😭 I remember that some of them took various criticisms or preferences of others seriously, it's infuriating now that I think about it, and I can't believe that for a while I was on that side

I've seen a lot of mockery of people who say "animation is cinema" because of how corny it sounds, and it doesn't make it any better that when people say that they're referring to Puss in Boots 2 or some other children's movie, and that at the same time those people are very limited in their ability to watch other films (indie, adult, live action or foreign)

While it's good to see the occasional joke about this it doesn't change the fact that there are takes that are this

I've seen people be complete assholes in posts from people who aren't even overrating a kids' movie, but who are simply saying "[random kids movie] is one of my favorites and one of the best from [distributing studio of said movie]"

There is a big difference between being passionate about a film or a specific medium and being a person who overrate ​​it while refusing to expand their horizons outside their comfort zone

At the same time, there's a big difference on being someone who says "I think people who say 'animation is cinema' should watch movies other than those from the giant American studios" and harassing random people just because they were talking about their comfort zone movie by calling them "manchild, Disney adult" and thinking you're superior for having different tastes

My point is, don't be a jerk or think you're superior because you watch more than the average "animation is cinema" person, and don't limit yourself to just one medium try to give other things a chance
