Trying my hand at cartoon screenshot imitation, in part because it’s good practice for framing and for the contrast between character and background that can be useful for regular comic making. ...But mostly because I think it looks cool!
In one of my new games, the party’s bard is an Aarakocra named Kleeck whose performance specialty is stand-up comedy (his player even brings a physical joke book with a lot of corny one-liners to sessions). Kleeck claims that his family once lived peacefully in the Star Mountains until they were attacked by a greedy Green Dragon, so I guess you could say he’s the kind of guy who may have lost his home and his family, “but at least you still have your sense of humor!” Of course, it’s possible that even this tragic backstory is just another one of his comedy routines...
In this picture, I’ve depicted a scene from the first or second session, in which Kleeck (disguised as a Dragon Cultist) discovered a treasure room in a hidden attic atop an abandoned clock tower. Whoever owns all of this stuff sure has a preference for hoarding jade, emerald, and other green valuables!
Since I haven’t posted any art in a few days, here’s a work-in-progress of a friend’s Aarakocra character for Dungeons & Dragons. I still need to make a few changes per her suggestions (and maybe draw a few alternate costumes), but for the most part I think this is the design we’re going with.
He’s a traveling bard (stand-up comedian) with a design based on a shoebill stork.
More info about him when I post the final drawing!
