So I moved from California to where I am now in 5th grade, when I was like 9 or 10. I had made 3 really good friends that I still remember today, and I haven't seen them for...6 years now? A lot changes in 6 years man. I have going away presents from all three of them on display in my room, and that just made me think of looking them up on FB to see how they were doing. It's a shame I'm not brave enough to strike up a conversation, as much as I would really like to. So my best friend when I was in the 5th was a girl named Vanessa, who smiled a lot and wore entire sleeves of silly bands. For some reason, she didn't have a lot of friends, although she was one of the friendliest and funniest people I'd ever met. I think she really helped me get out of my shell as a kid. 6 or so years later, she looks pretty different. She dyed her blonde hair pink and wears bold black eyeliner and rubber wrist bands. There was one picture where she flipped the bird at the camera. She's kind of punk I guess, which is pretty cool. I feel a little boring compared to her. The second friend was an American boy named Greg. He liked to dance and play the guitar, which I thought was super cool. I guess he was the Justin Bieber of our grade, and he even had the signature hair and style. We were a couple(?) and would sit on top of the monkey bars together. He gave me a guitar pick on the last day I was in California, and just said "Remember me." And I do, tyvm. He still looks the same, but he got his braces off and his cheeks are a little less chubby. He's pretty handsome, but looks much older than me. I'm not sure if he still plays guitar or dances. And the last friend I remember from California was David, who was a short Asian boy who always wore a Google cap. I'd always rib him about his height, but he'd turn it on me and say he was stronger. No duh. David was a really funny and charming guy, and I was confused for some time on whether I liked Greg or him. He was a black belt in Kung Fu and we'd often talk about it since I was enrolled in the same program (but at a waaaay lower level). It took me a while to find his profile because there are so many Davids out there. He hasn't changed at all though, and still looks a lot like he did when we were 10. Maybe it's an Asian thing. He got his braces off too and ditched the Google cap. Everyone has changed so much and looks mature and confident. This was kind of surreal. These are people that I used to know. I used to interact with them every day. And now I don't at all. It's a shame because I was friends with them because I loved their personalities, but I'm probably never going to see them again... I wonder if they ever think about me from time to time.
