Sitting on the deck, you were relaxing, watching the kitters play in your backyard, you watched Nyx, Libertus, Crowe and Pelna all pause, and stare at the fence.Â
“You know, guys...” You started. “Why didn’t you just bring all the strays with you when you came huh? Or are you secretly calling them all here?”
You followed their gaze, watching their postures as they all seem to sink down on all fours, close to their belly. A submissive posture they showed to Regis. Your brows rose as you finally noticed this gruff beast - as that was what first came to your mind when you saw him - walking your fence line.Â
Slowly getting to your feet you walked slowly up behind the four, and rested your hands behind your back. “Hello there.”Â
You watched as he flicked his semi-long nub of a tail back and forth.Â
“Oh dear. Did you lose part of your tail?”
He seemed to glare at you a bit then, causing you to smirk. “Oh come on now, don’t be like that.” you cooed. “Are you hungry?”Â
You watched his ears turn, then he sat down on his rump, looking at the four infront of you. You hummed and looked at Nyx. “Well, love, do we bring him in?”
The loud burbling meow you got was the answer you needed. And you wandered back to the house to get a can of food, only to return with Regis in tow. You heard the stray growl low, then stop as you scolded him a little. “Come now, Regis won’t hurt you, no one here will.. well except maybe Ardyn, do keep your distance.”Â
You went out the side gate, opened the can and offered it to him. His ears turned as he slowly approached then began to eat like he hadn’t eaten in days. You reached down to try to stroke him only to cry out in surprise as you pulled your hand back, the new scratches welling up with blood. “Ah, six...”Â
When you hissed through your teeth, his demeanor changed. He slunk down to the ground, and slowly approached, soft burbles emitting from his throat, his ears turned forward to you, his short tail held downwards.Â
“Ah, it’s alright, I know you didn’t mean to, I shouldn’t have interrupted your eating. Go ahead...” you offered the can, by pushing it to him again, and once more, he ravenously devoured the food, before he settled to wash his face, then move to you, rubbing against you gently. With a tender laugh, you gently petted him behind his ears. “Welcome home.”
And thus, Titus joined the ranks of your clowder.
Kitty!Titus - You found out from the vet that he was not, in fact, missing part of his tail, he was born that way. The vet figured he was at least mostly a Pixie bob - and their tails never grew more than 5 inches long.
Titus is one that seems to demand respect, from you, and the others. You often smirk as he puffs his chest out at you when he’s upset about something. “Don’t give me that look…”
He’s semi-affectionate, kinda like Cor. He’s not one to seek out your affections and purrs unless the mood strikes him. Though, he seems to like to keep himself close by. He does not shadow you, Cor has put him in his place a few times as to who should be that close when you’re wandering around in the back yard.
He’s not very talkative with you, but he does burble and mow at you softly when you have a can of food in your hands.
When he is affectionate, his purrs are deep and very rumbly, and he puts his whole body into your pettings. If you start by rubbing his head he will deliberately walk so that you bet him from head to tail tip, his back arching into your lightly rubbing fingers. But when he’s done, he’s done, and he’ll wander off to groom himself.
Content to lay on your lap, now and then and get light pettings on the back of his head. Do not pet down his back, or near his tail. He will growl and hiss at you, and if you continue, you may get scratched before he gets up to leave.
He’s not picky about his food, he will eat pretty much anything, but he will often get DEMANDING of wet food, and by demanding -- he’ll pull the cans out from the cupboards and carry one over to you.
Treats are semi-ok, sometimes he’ll turn his nose up at them.
He’s huffy around Regis, and you’re not sure why, or how Regis ever upset him. There’s a long rivalry there though, and there’s been a few times where you’ve had to either separate them, or you’ve watched Clarus and Cor pounce on Titus when he’s got a chip on his shoulder.
He’s standoffish to Noctis too. Though he seems to respect Nyx, Crowe, Libertus, and Pelna more than the others. You kinda figure it has something to do from when they were all strays.
He. Does. Not. Play. No matter what you do, no matter what toy you offer him, he sticks his nose up at it, giving you what you would consider quite the glare, which makes you laugh. He then tilts his head, curious as to why you're laughing.
He’s protective of you. Other strays, dogs, the rest of the cats…he’ll sort of lift his head and give off a soft low growl of a warning. Most of the kitters ignore him now, except Ardyn. He seems to like to push Titus to the brink, and cause a fight. More often than not Ardyn has actually sought you out to comfort him when this happens, looking, with what you consider, smugly in Titus’ direction.
He sleeps with you but at a distance. He’ll sleep off to your side near the edge of the bed. Anytime you move, he’ll lift his head and watch you as you move in your sleep before drifting back off himself.
