ใ synopsis: the mist finally cleared and all his questions were answered. he knew that the best is yet to come, especially with you.ย
you huffed and panted as you quickly made your way around the headquarters, having just returned from your own mission in the east. your footsteps were light and quick, as you were clearly in a hurry. the sword hung on your waist jingled with a light clanging sound along with your movements and bounce.
upon arriving at the butterfly estate, aoi was already at the front, expecting your arrival. she gave you a light smile and approached you, her blue eyes studying you and your body to check for injuries.
"aoi! oh thank heavens you're here, whe-" she cut you off before you can even continue any further.
"you have a cut here, on your left thigh. you're clearly bleeding, y/n! your uniform is even soaked from the blood." she scolded you and frowned, turning away and crossing her arms.
you chuckled and pat her head, making her turn to you again. "aoi, it's not fatal. it's merely a scratch from the demon i fought. there's not even poison or demon art in it!" you reasoned to calm her down. she stared at you for a few more seconds before sighing and continued hanging linens.
"he's in the infirmary, in the second room. he just finished his lunch, he's probably asleep." she said and gave you a wide smile, winking at you knowingly.
wasting no more than a second, you quickly and swiftly made your way through the halls of the butterfly estate. it was fairly empty at this time, unlike during the natagumo mountain mission wherein there were a lot of slayers who had received treatment.
you passed by the first door and heard the quiet slither of a serpent. you smiled to yourself and assumed that it was kanroji who was in the room, accompanied by iguro. you decided to check on her later to save yourself from the irritation of the male hashira.
stopping at the closed door, you took a deep breath and steeled yourself. you have heard from shinobu that muichiro has regained his memories and is lively as ever. though he did receive a handful of injuries from the upper moon alongside poisoning, he was nearing full recovery.
three knocks resounded throughout the room, and muichiro's eyes flew to the door. his eyes sparkled as he had a gut feeling who was behind the door. he sat up straight and brushed his hair away from his face.
"come in." he said which made your eyes widen and made your jaw fall from surprise. even his voice had changed, it was lighter and sounded more carefree now. you slid the door open and your eyes fell to his figure.
he was sitting upright with his back pressed against the headboard. his upper body was bare since a few bandages were wrapped around his torso and chest. you can see faint marks of needles on his face and neck, but it was not alarming and instead, were slowly fading with time.
half of his hair was tied back and the other half cascaded down his back. his hands were more calloused than the last time you saw him and... and...
his eyes were bright and shining, no longer dull and void. rather, it was full of glee and hope, of love and joy, of relief and peace.
his right hand reached out to you and your feet began to walk towards him, taking his hand and giving it a light squeeze before you sat by his side.
the last thing you would've expected to see on him is a genuine smile, but there it was. a sweet, warm, and beautiful smile plastered on his lips as his eyes crinkled to reflect the true happiness he felt at that moment.
tears welled at your eyes as you fought them back. muichiro noticed and sat up even straighter, leaning forward to pull you in a hug. a tight and reassuring one, full of tenderness and explosive emotions.
"mui... you're back, you're safe and... and you defeated an upper moon by yourself, and.. and you're back, you're you again, mui." you whispered softly to him which made him chuckle. his hands comfortingly ran up and down your back as you felt him smile against your shoulder.
he pulled back to ruffle your hair, making a mess out of it. "you're such a massive cry baby." he playfully mocked you and laughed heartily, the sound was like music to your ears. you scoffed and poked his chest playfully.
"now i don't know which one's harder to deal with. the sullen you or the teasing you." you huffed and turned away from him.
his hand found its way to yours and he interlocked your fingers. your eyes kept gazing into his teal, bright ones. you cannot get enough of how majestic and breathtaking he looks all the time. he's especially gorgeous now that the mist has cleared.
"y/n, the fog has lifted now. everything's crystal clear, i'm not living in a blur anymore, i'm not chasing my memories. i can now see things the way they are. and you're here, with me. and with you, i know where i'm meant to go." he spoke, his voice laced with sincerity and overflowing with dedication. your smile only widened as tears came to your eyes even more, those words meant the world to you.
"i'm always here, mui. always, for you. 'm not going anywhere. we'll always be together, and everything's much more different now, but somehow, still the same." you replied before planting a kiss on his forehead, hearing him sigh in contentment.
a few moments passed when he sat up and his gaze flew to your body. he huffed and poked your sides, squinting at you and raising a brow.
"you should get your wound treated, your blood is staining the floor."
the moon was high in the sky and you smiled in relief and happiness as you heard the sounds of his soft breathing quietly bounce off the walls of the room. you held onto his hand, a promise to never let go.
/ / /
the trees behind your villa swayed with the wind, making you snap your head towards your back garden. you cleared your throat to gain the attention of the slayers who were engrossed in your durability training.
"let's take a break for an hour, i've prepared some food and refreshments at the kitchen, please help yourselves!" they all collectively let out a sigh of relief and gratitude.
the slayers have just finished muichiro's training and by the drained and almost dead-like state they were in as they arrived at your estate, you had a slight idea of how strict and uptight muichiro was with their training.
you made your way to your back garden and saw muichiro sitting on the swing, enjoying the afternoon breeze. his head turned to look at you and the sun illuminated his face, making him look more dignified and warm in this angle.
you sauntered over to him and sat next to him, staring at your reflection at the pond. like a reflex, his hand found yours and he interlocked your fingers together.
you gave him a slight nudge on his side. "you only came here for tanjiro, didn't you? he finished my training days ago, he must be with gyomei-san now." you feigned upset and disappointment, making a smile appear on his face.
"i know that, tanjiro is an amazing boy. i came here specifically for you, of course. i'm just really fond of tanjiro, but you're my favorite." he remarked and pinched your cheeks, making you laugh.
you sat in comfortable silence for a few more seconds before he stood up and tugged on your hand. "hey, should we get away for a while? let's go to the east town and try out the food there." he said and pulled you even harder, making you stand up.
you chuckled and swayed your hands. "can't, mui. our training resumes in an hour." you replied which made him huff. he let go of your hand and walked past you into your estate, muttering something along the lines of "stupid training."
as he set foot in your kitchen, the slayers felt the blood drain from their face. are they in a nightmare? they just finished tokito's training. why is he here? what does he want? some of them almost dropped your porcelain bowls and plates from shock and fright.
you caught up to him and stared in surprise as he spoke in his sullen, dry voice.
"hey you incompetent weaklings, train on your own for the night. work until you bleed and your knees give out. if y/n is disappointed by your performance tomorrow, i'll send you back to my estate."
he turned away and you weren't even able to get a word in when you felt yourself being pulled away from your villa. you can only shake your head as you see him return to his usual demeanor. this guy surely has his favorites.
hand in hand, you both went to different shops and restaurants. enjoying the rest of the day with glee and love, basking in the relief and hope that the future brings.
in the light of the moon, his beauty mesmerizes you and captures the entirety of your being. his laughter makes your heart skip a beat, and the light in his eyes shines brighter than any street lamp. his hand feels warm and safe as it tightly held yours, and his carefree attitude makes you feel at home.
under the warm glow of the moon, you look perfect clad in your uniform, your glamour and presence enough to draw the attention of passersby. muichiro did not like it, the feeling that others could possibly look at you the way he does. but all his worries wash away when he feels your arms around him, when your intoxicating scent invade his nostrils. he know's he's at peace when he sees your smile. he knows tomorrow will be as bright with you in his life.
the fog has lifted, no more haze, just clarity.
all at once, everything looks different. now that he sees you.

ใ a/n: after four long months of inactivity, please accept this little work of mine. thank you all for your unending love and support despite my inactivity. this is sort of a gift for xmas, i will try to have another work up before the year ends. hope you like this and have a wonderful day!
ใ reader's quirk is similar to gojo's infinity!!
you relished in the way the villains' face contorted into fear when they realized that their punches and weapons didn't seem to pierce or hit you in any way. even the strongest of them, no matter how forceful and strength-packed his punch is, you stood your ground and pouted at their futile attempts of taking you down.
they slowly backed away until they realized that the one and only dynamight was right behind them, giving them no chance to escape. fleeing by air was not an option either, given how tsukuyomi was also at watch.
their gazes went back to you. compared to dynamight who was fully armed, and tsukuyomi who had dark shadow, you only had yourself and no weapon nor fancy quirk (none that they can see) which made them think that you were the most vulnerable.
going once again at you, they attempted a punch but stopped mere inches from your face, as if there was an invisible wall there, separating your frame from the rest of the world.
you got fed up quick, and all three of you went at the villains, speedily restraining them all within minutes. you dragged them off to the main street, where a few others were also tied up.
you let tsukuyomi report to the police and you watched as they slowly drove away from view. you looked to your side and saw katsuki who was staring at you, intensely. you sighed and walked towards him, giving him a pat on the shoulder.
"i'm tired, 'tsuki. let's go home."
you noticed that katsuki was particularly silent on the way home, even going as far to ignore civilians who were waving at the two of you and scurrying to give gifts. upon arriving home, he went straight to the shower and left you to arrange and store the gifts you received.
you showered after he did and you saw him staring out the window. you got dressed and walked up behind him and gave him a hug. you heard him grunt before pulling away after a few seconds. you furrowed your brows and walked after him, grabbing his wrist and forcing him to look at you.
"katsuki, what's wrong? you've been acting weird ever since we subdued those villains. did i do something wrong?" you asked hurriedly and stared at his face with worry. he only tsked under his breath which made you let go of his wrist, giving him an incredulous look.
you scoffed and looked at him, feeling your nerves start to light up with fire and anger. you suppressed your bubbling irritation and asked him once again, to which he only responded with silence and walked away to the kitchen.
following him, you shut the cupboard he was about to open and asked him "what's wrong with you? why are you being like this?! we were okay when the day started, did i upset you in any way?!" you asked and fumed with anger.
you saw veins on his head as he grit his teeth and nudged you away from him. you stumbled backwards and let out a startled gasp.
"yes! you upset me all the time, all the goddamned time! why are you always the one they see? the one they praise? the one they are always in awe with? do i not compare yo you in any way?! are you so better than me that you are the one they turn to?!" he shouted in anger and slammed his hands on the kitchen counter.
you turned pale and was rendered speechless by his words, he never acted like this, not in the seven years you were together. he never lashed out, at least, never at you. but before you could even try to understand or question him, he continued with his words.
"when they asked for back up earlier, you were the one they called and when we both arrived, they looked as if they did not want me there. and those villains, they looked at me with mockery! they... they saw you as the better opponent which was why they wanted to take you down. and... and on our way home, everyone was, everyone... they all admire you. why can't they see me? why can't i be number one too?" he asked in a hoarse voice as tears spilled past his eyes as he repeatedly slammed whatever surface his hands landed on. his eyes were red with tears, face distorted into hurt and confusion, his voice laced with insecurity and doubt.
it broke you to see him like this. to see him so fragile and so tormented, uncertain and unsure of himself. it hurt you that he was hurting all this time but you did not suspect a thing. the feeling of shame and shock and sadness clawing at your chest all at once when it dawned of you that all these was happening because of you.
you tried to walk towards him and calm him down when a few words fell from his lips, stunning you in place as tears threatened to spill past your eyes as well.
"sometimes, i wish that you'd just disappear. so i can finally be number one" he whispered as his shoulders slumped.
staring at him in horror and betrayal, you felt your chest clench in pain and confusion. you don't know if you heard it right but the thought of those mere words coming from him was enough to feel as if you were stabbed with a thousand knives.
not that you know how that feels.
your hands balled into fists and you tried to suppress your anger as you continued to walk towards him. seeing this, katsuki'a rage was further fueled as he grabbed two bottles of wine and threw them at your feet, the glass shattering into pieces.
you stood still at this action, as you watch him get another bottle and throw them at your feet again. you flinched and backed away, feeling the sharp shards of the glass dig at your feet, ankles, legs, and toes.
you stared up at him and saw his head buried in his hands.
you cannot take this. why would he... why would he resort to such violence when everything could be talked out.
"bakugo katsuki... to hell with you! you... i haven't done anything wrong! all i do is work properly and fulfill my duties as a hero! i've never neglected you as a fiance, i've never disrespected you as a pro hero, i've never humiliated you as a colleague. why must you treat me like this?!" you screamed back at him as the dam broke and tears fell rapidly down your face, mixing with the blood and wine at your feet.
at the sudden increase in your voice, katsuki finally looked at you and your frame, eyes widening as he saw the pool of blood and wine with pieces of glass at your feet. he was rooted in his place as you continued to speak up.
"i've never wanted to outshine you, katsuki. i've never wanted to become number one! heaven knows how much i hate this damned quirk, how much i can never feel the true warmth and touch of another person! i am no hero, i'm just someone incapable of pain and feelings" you muttered and looked at him in the eye, each of your words piercing his chest and leaving behind a bloody trail.
the pain of the shards digging into your flesh and the wine stinging your cuts was nothing compared to the suffocating emotions that clouded your mind and tormented your heart.
"y/n... your... your barrier... where is it? why, why are you wounded? is your quirk not-"
"no! i don't use my quirk around you katsuki! i trust you, i love you, why would i use it around you? i believed that you will never hurt me, i never felt the need to activate it because i felt safe around you" you muttered and lowered your head to suppress your hiccups and stop your tears.
with those words, katsuki realized just how much damage he had done in the last few minutes. he was well aware that your quirk had always been there since you were four, and that you took a lot of time learning how to deactivate it. he thought however, that all this time, you activated it around him too, which added to the hate he felt.
he tried to reach for you but you backed away.
"hah... there's too much resentment and hidden hatred in this relationship. you see me as a rival rather than your fiancee. this..." you took in a sharp breath and removed the engagement ring on your finger.
"this won't work anymore" you said and put it on the counter. katsuki scrambled to put it back on you, grabbing hold of your hands...
only to realize that your barrier was already there.
his eyes turned somber and his whole body stilled. you leaned towards him and pressed a kiss to his cheek, although he never felt your lips, only the cold surface of your barrier.
"let's not meet again."
you turned away and began to walk out, leaving a trail of blood and wine footprints as the shards of glass pressed deeper into your skin. you slammed the door and bakugo felt his heart and hopes shatter at the same time.
his eyes glanced at the silver ring you wore, sitting on the countertop. a small reminder of the countless what if's that will keep him up for the nights to come. cold, dark nights without you by his side.
true to your words, the japanese news headlines the next day was filled with your announcement about moving to australia, to continue your hero career in there, and to never return to japan again.
the following week, the hero rankings changed.
he stood at the number one spot.
he was the number one hero.
but at what cost?

was there a lifetime waiting for us, in a world where i was yours?
you first saw him when you were walking back home to your village after a round at the night market, selling your handwoven mats and cloths. he was drenched in blood and you saw the exact moment he threw your dead father's body to the ground.
you were stricken with shock and fear, but you remained rooted in place, eyes searching for your mother. he sensed your presence, so he turned around to take a good look at you, taken aback when he saw your hunched form and the cloth you use to cover your mouth.
you didn't mind him, going forward in a frantic hunt for your mother who was nowhere to be seen. in a rush, you tripped over a dead body, making you fall face flat to the ground.
you had a hard time regaining balance until you feel a hand grip your haori, raising you into the air as your feet lifted off the ground. you saw a pair of eyes that said "upper moon three" stare into yours.
"hey, are you blind or just dumb?" he asked with a rough voice to which you did not respond. you just stared at him without a word, waiting for him to put you down.
"is this another one of my hallucinations?" you thought to yourself, feeling your feet touch the cold ground again. you looked up at him and reached out a hand, which made him flinch and take a step back. you insisted and reached out another hand, this time quickly poking his left cheek.
"ah, so it isn't a hallucination" you muttered and continued to look for your mother. the demon was dumbfounded at your reaction, a little annoyed to be honest. you just saw him a kill a man with bare hands but you did not bat an eye and just continued looking for your mother.
he followed you, observing your movement and aura, as well as the way you carry yourself. it was obvious that you were ill and you have a weak body. an image of a woman flashed in his mind, but he shook it off, thinking of it as muzan's memories.
as you tripped on a tree branch for the nth time, he finally spoke to you again. "hey, the women in the village went up the mountain" he said in a low voice, leaning against a tree to gauge your reaction. you just looked at him and nodded, muttering a small "thanks" before going up the direction of the mountain.
he hurried to accompany you, just staying by your side. he felt you inch closer to him whenever the wind blew colder and whenever you heard an owl hoot or a wolf howl. he let you be, because it seemed like you would collapse at anytime.
arriving at the middle of the mountain, a few feet away from a temple, you turned to look at the man beside you. "thank you so much, upper moon three-san, i might've tripped endlessly if it weren't for you" you said and bowed down to him.
he didn't respond, just staring at you. feeling yourself shrink at his stare and unaware of what to do, you reached into your makeshift bag and took a blue haori out, handing it to him, which he took confusedly.
"it might start snowing tomorrow, keep yourself warm" you said and walked away from him, going to the temple where you could see the women in your village huddled up together.
before completely stepping into the temple, you turned to look at him, only to see a gust of wind and the empty forest you two walked in.
smell of rain through the window pane, and the sight of you. oh, you were a good dream
the next time you saw him was seven days later, when it was pouring down outside, so your mother insisted that you stay in while she takes care of your goods.
he appeared as soon as the sun began to set, sitting by your bed side and watching you stare at nothing as the raindrops assaulted your window. you looked at him after a few minutes.
"am i dying?" you asked him directly, which made him give you a scandalized look. you were so serious that it sounded as if you do not fear death, or as if you are always prepared for death to appear at your door and take you.
there was silence in the room for a few minutes. "well, i guess you only talk if you want, i'll talk instead" you said and took out your needle and thread, beginning to fix your ripped haori while listening to the thunder going on outside.
"i was born with a weak body, a very very weak one. the healers said that it was because my mother neglected her body during pregnancy. i was always sick ever since, never getting to live a normal life" you narrated, not bothering to look at the demon who stared at your nimble fingers while listening to your story.
"but i didn't believe them, i knew that the reason why my body is weak is because my father abused my mother a lot, he also cheated on her a lot of times. my uncle once saw him in the red district, and my mom has never been the same ever since" you continued, looking at the demon this time finally, gauging his expression. but when you saw nothing, you went back to sewing your haori.
the room went silent again, and when you finished sewing, you put back your tools and folded your haori. the demon cleared his throat, gaining your attention.
"why aren't you afraid of me? i massacred the men in your village" he spoke, eyes unwavering as it stared into yours. you chuckled and sat up, and you were surprised to feel him assist you to lean on your headboard.
"thank you. the man i saw you kill was my father, so thank you. he was the man who brought me to this world, but he was never really a father" you replied, fiddling with a little doll your mother gor you years ago. "as for why i am not afraid of you, well, i've had my fair share of creatures of the night" you said softly, reaching for a comb in your night stand, proceeding to comb through the strands of your hair.
"i've had a wesk body since birth. and there were a lot of moments where i had a foot through death's door. i'd see shinigamis, ghosts, jorogumos, and enenras. so a demon like you is no surprise for me. it was actually comforting, since i wasn't able to play with other children, they'd talk to me and entertain me. the last time i saw one was a few years ago though, but i'm still wary all the time, because no one knows when they'll come and take me. seeing creatures like you, i take it as a warning to be careful about my health and body" you explained slowly to him, making his eyes widen as he nodded slowly.
silence reigned the room once again, and you closed your eyes, the rain slowly coming to an end as the roar of the thunder came to a halt. the soft patter of the rain on your window lulling you to sleep.
when you woke up, the moon was high in the sky and the demon was still beside you. but this time, he had a bowl of congee in his hands, putting it on your night stand before standing up.
"get better soon. i'll be on my way now" he said and before he completely walked away, you held his wrist gently and weakly. he turned around, surprised at your bold gesture.
you reached into your drawer and took out a red haori this time. "it's cold out. you might catch a cold" you said and handed it to him, letting go of his wrist. he gave you a small smile and opened your door.
before disappearing, he said one last thing. "i'm akaza" you turned to look at him with a warm smile. nodding at him, you spoke in a soft voice.
"i'm miyuki. be safe, akaza" you said and took your congee as he went out of your sight.
you ignored the way the air felt colder when he was gone, you focused on finishing the congee that akaza made for you, smiling as the taste reminded you of something distant and far.
and akaza ignored the way your name sounded so familiar, the way you felt so close yet so far, and the way his name sounded so good coming from your lips.
is there a lifetime waiting for us? all this time i have been yours
he often pops up for evening visits since then, making sure that you were in a good shape and that your health was not doing too bad. he disappeared for a week after his last visit, and you wondered when you would see him again.
and along with those nights of visits and waitings, your feelings began to bloom for the man who made you feel alive again. who made you see colors once again in this monochromatic world.
he made you feel worthy of affection and care.
and you knew that feelings will eventually begin to bloom sometime, and you hoped that it wouldn't drive the man away.
the next time you met him was during the new year festival in the town. being the opportunist you are, you insisted on going out to market your woven mats, cloths, and haoris, not passing up on the crowd to sell these.
not even ten minutes into setting up your stall, you saw the red haired demon in the crowd of people making his way to you.
when he was in front of you, he placed a pouch in your palms. opening it, you saw it filled to the brim with gold coins. you looked up at him, about to return it.
"do not worry, my colleagues saw the haori you gave me, so they wanted me to purchase them one as well" he said and wrapped your stuff, taking it into his arms. he helped you stand up and dusted off your haori.
"where are we going?" you asked as he began to lead you through the crowd. you did not know how but it seemed like it wasn't so packed, you were able to move freely and you weren't squished by sweaty bodies of the people.
"to the bridge. we can see the fireworks there magnificently" he replied which made you smile, you've never seen fireworks before, but you do think that they are quite the view.
you followed him and soon, you two were on the bridge, hand in hand while waiting for the fireworks show. he turned to you, taking out a floral-designed handcomb, putting it into your hair that was styled into a bun.
you felt warm and fuzzy inside, you did not feel any butterflies, because you felt safe and at ease beside him, you felt safe with akaza.
the fireworks went off moments later and they captivated your eyes, gaining the entirety of your attention. you watched as the different colors exploded, leaving sparks in their wake. the sounds they made, made you felt giddy inside and the colors added to the joy your heart felt in that moment.
too engrossed in the firework show, you failed to notice the way akaza was staring at you. staring at you like you were the most beautiful thing he's ever seen. like you put all the stars in the night sky for him and him only. he watched as your glossy eyes reflected the fireworks, but you were much prettier than any scenery right now.
and when you looked at him with tears of joy in your eyes, something clicked in the two of you, eyes widening at the realization.
"hakuji?"
"koyuki?"
you asked simultaneously, tears escaping both of your eyes as you wasted no time in jumping into his arms, burying your face into his neck, not minding the stares of other people.
this was why his touch felt so familiar. why his eyes looked like the stars you admired on a distant memory. why his voice sounded like a soft lullaby. why his congee tasted so familiar. why everything about him felt so right and felt so much like home.
and this was why you were so intriguing, that he cannot seem to leave you alone. why your smile made him feel warm. why he can't stop from looking after you. why he felt that he needed to be beside you most of the time. why everything about you completed something that he was missing for years.
"my husband, hakuji. i've missed you" you sobbed harder and clung to his haori, not daring to let go.
"oh, koyuki, my love. i'm sorry it took me so long" he responded, pressing a kiss to your temple.
the two of you welcomed the new year as one, one heart and soul, sharing the suppressed love for each other all these years.
he was going to be your source of strength from now on, and you were going to be the one who will put him back on track.
you made a silent promise to be always beside him no matter what or where or when.
he made a silent promise to be always by your side, and that he'll no longer make the same mistakes he did.
and as you two were overjoyed by your reunion, neither of you noticed the demon lord lurking in the distance, shaking his head as his upper moon three got back his pathetic, weak and helpless human memories.
additional a/n: i'm letting this be an open-ended scenario, so it is up to you to decide if akaza and reader gets their happy ending or if muzan steps in to break their bond. also, i used "lifetime" by ben&ben as an outline for the story. as always, likes and reblogs are very appreciated! love lots <3
