I'm Gonna Thrill You Tonight
Pairings - Scare actor! Sanemi x Fem reader
The sun was setting earlier, the wind was blowing harder, and the leaves were losing their earthly color.
And, with fall comes Halloween — a holiday you usually love.
An excuse to dress up and wear any cool makeup. But, right now, your Pinterest search bar is upsetting you.
Everything was couple costumes.
Beast Boy and Raven, Morticia and Gomez, Mavis and Johny. The list could go on forever!
The list only highlighted the emptiness of your bed.
A space that Sanemi would have filled.
His white hair tickling the back of your neck, his beefy arms gripping your waist, as he watched you scroll on social media or play some game.
Sometimes you would even feel the vibration of his low laughter on your neck.
But that didn’t matter; he wasn’t your boyfriend anymore.
The relationship had ended somewhat peacefully; you felt too high-maintenance.
You knew he worked a lot, yet he still managed to have somehow time to grab your favorite candy before heading to your place and eat half the bag, fixed whatever was broken in your house (he was too stubborn to let anyone else fix it), watched your favorite shows with you while complaining the whole time, of course and even with a scowl on his face, let you do his skincare.
Not that he ever had a routine other than throwing water at his face with his hands. He was a rough man who cared very little about his appearance.
So it was baffling to you how such a brute could snuggle in bed with you and be ok with it.
And it's not like he gave words of comfort to change your mind.
Words of affirmation weren't up his alley.
Causing your mind to play dirty tricks, constantly worrying whether he truly liked you or was merely tolerating you.
So on a random Tuesday, you broke up. His pale purple eyes never met yours. Just a little head nod signifying he was paying attention.
His rough voice, for once, became silent.
So, yeah, these awful couple costumes put you in a dreadful mood.
Maybe Halloween wasn't worth participating in this year.
“What do you mean you're not going to the Halloween party this weekend?” Mitsuri gasped.
She had known you far too long to know something was off.
“I just- I don't know what to wear, so I might as well-”
“Not go,” Mitsuri finished.
A long sigh could be heard from her. You couldn't see her face; you just knew her lips were pouting. “Actually, it's ok, we can adapt. How about a haunted house?”
You rolled your eyes, not finding it frightening to see people in face paint, carrying some cheap plastic weapon, screaming in your ear.
“Come on, at least for cute pictures”
“Yes! We can go Saturday night!”
You shut your eyes, already prepping yourself for the impending doom.
But Saturday came quickly, and you found yourself picking up Mitsuri and heading to the haunted house.
“Don't make that face,” Mitsuri said, poking your cheek and squishing it.
You two were walking to the ticket booth, ready to pay and enter, but you still felt no fear.
At least you were out of the house.
You watched Mitsuri buy her ticket first, practically bouncing with excitement. You could hear her fingers tapping on the booth.
“Someone's excited!” you laughed.
“Yes, now, hurry up,” she lightly pushed you towards the booth.
“Ok, ok, Hi, one ticket please”
“That will be 35, do you wanna pay cash or card?”
“Card,” you quickly took your card out and inserted it into the machine.
“Alright, here you go, have fun,” they said, slipping the white wristband on you.
“Let’s go!” Mitsuri squealed, squeezing your arm.
Walking inside, you were slapped in the face by all the fog and bright lights.
You had now realized why Mitsuri was so excited; they clearly wanted to offer quite the experience.
Huge overbearing spiderwebs, scare actors walking or even crawling about on the ground, and the huge clown inflatables.
You were sure you would be going home with a headache.
“Hmmm….. which house should we go in first?” Mitsuri pondered
She halted in her steps,” This early?”
“Yup, it’ll be like a good way to wake us up,” you gently smiled, trying to convince her.
Her eyes narrowed at you,” Okay then, how about that one?” Her hand pointed in the direction where loud sirens could be heard.
“House of doom,” you shrugged your shoulders,” alright”
The line to get in was insanely long; you could easily tell this house was their most popular attraction.
“Where the clowns get to play,” you lazily read off the wall before entering.
It's not like you were an easy scare.
You and Mitsuri slowly walked in, attempting to navigate the darkness without falling.
“I hope I don't bust my a-”
A scream quickly interrupted you, making you whip your head around. Only to reveal an actor coming from the left side with a knife.
“You must be new here. WELCOME!” she shouted. Pink and purple clown makeup decorated her face.
You weren't too scared, but Mitsuri couldn't say the same as she yanked your arm and ran into the next room.
Flashing lights and fog were all you could see. If you weren't touching Mitsuri, you wouldn't even know she was beside you.
Then the room creaked with each step; you had no other choice but to use your unoccupied arm to search for the next door.
Unbeknownst to you, a tall figure lurked behind you, watching you with astonishing eyes, waiting for your next move.
“Let's split up a little bit”
“At least lets separate our arms so we can both look for the door”
She shifted in front of you to properly see your face
“Yeah, but what if?” she paused, her eyes widened
“What if what?” you naively asked. Not seeing the white-haired figure looming over, sinfully grinning at Mitsuri, motioning his hands around your neck.
“Uhh,” she stammered, her hands fidgeting with her shirt.
You furrowed your eyebrows, completely lost on what happened in a couple of seconds to change the mood.
Until you felt a cold silver chain wrap around your shoulder and a large hand on your waist.
The hairs on your arm rose, completely unaware of what was happening.
Scare actors aren’t supposed to touch you, right?
So why was he so comfortable putting his hand on you? And why couldn’t you move out of his grasp?
Mitsuri quickly ran out the door you had initially entered, not caring about following the directional arrows.
“WAIT,” you screamed. Attempting to unravel yourself from the brawny hands trapping you.
Your worst fear had come true: some psycho had tricked the staff and sneaked into the haunted house, and now you would be one of his victims.
The arm no longer stayed stagnant as it started to snake its way around your stomach.
Gently caressing you, while moving you even closer to his large body. You could feel his abs rubbing against your back with every dragged-out breath.
“Most people would scream,” he laughed. “But again, it is you”
You whipped your head around your finger, angrily rising to his face
“You!” You scoffed. Realizing the man with dark clown makeup was your ex.
The white base paint with the elongated dark red lips and the black paint drawn in circles around his eyes forced you to do a triple-take to recognize him.
His low chuckle erupted into full laughter as he sized you up.
“Sanemi, you little shit, you scared the hell out of me!”
He didn’t respond to your yelling; his eyes only raked over your body before he met your eyes.
“Say something!” You yelled, your hands coming up and down, slapping your thighs.
“Why are you even here?” you asked.
“I can't like scaring people?” he sarcastically asked.
“You piece of shit,” you shook your head and headed to storm out. Your hands balled into a fist, pissed he could get such a reaction out of you.
You ignored the arrows and headed out the entrance, looking for Mitsuri.
“There you are, I am so sorry for leaving you,” she said, bowing her head.
“No worries,” you gritted through your teeth, staring at the ground.
“Did the clown scare you that bad?”
“What? No, it was fucking Sanemi”
“SANEMI,” Mitsuri screamed, shock lacing her voice. “Your Sanemi”
“Yes, no,” he wasn’t yours anymore, just a couple of memories.
“How about we go get some food? I see seats over there,” you added, trying to change the conversation quickly.
She shrugged her shoulders.
You two had agreed to share a tray of fries, so you slouched down at the bench.
“He’s such a” you whined. Your hands started mimicking you strangling the air.
“He probably misses you,” Mitsuri hummed, shoving a fry in her mouth.
You rolled your eyes.”Yeah, right, he never told me any words of affection.”
“Oh, then what did he do?”
“He would hold me and stuff, but he never did it without a scowl. Like he only did it begrudgingly”
Your body tensed at his sudden presence. You grabbed a fry and chucked it at him.
His tongue ran across his teeth as he stared at you.
You wanted to squirm in your seat, but you knew he would only tease you about it, so you held your ground.
He let out a breath,” I wanna talk to you”
You narrowed your eyes at him, still upset from before, but what confused you was the sudden shyness he developed.
He couldn’t meet your eyes as he spoke.
“Fine, do you know somewhere quiet we can go”
You didn’t miss the small flicker of hope in his eyes as a smile formed on his lips.”Yeah”
You followed him to some secluded part of the establishment. He walked towards a haunted house that looked run-down.
No flashing lights, scare actors or even those horrible banners describing the house.
He stopped walking when he came across an old rusty green bench.
You sat down first, while he just stood there.
You rubbed your temples in circles. “What is it”
“I still buy those overly sweet candies you used to like can never eat the full bag though”
He bit his and threw his head back.”I don’t know what to say.”
“I can’t help with that, Sanemi”
His head snapped back up at the call of his name, “Sanemi,” he mocked. “Never called me that before”
“It makes things easier to move on,” you whispered.
“Easier, she says,” he chuckles. Have you moved on then”
“That’s not your business; we’re not together anymore”
“Then why. I don't want some bullshit reasoning. Tell me why you actually broke up with me.”
“No, saying we’re on two different paths isn’t enough,” he said, moving closer. You had to tilt your head back to meet his eyes.
“I thought that….I thought you were tired of me. I know you work a lot and you always come back to me at night. And whenever I asked you how you felt, you wouldn’t respond. When you did have day-offs, and we did things together, you always complained.” Your eyes started to water.
“And I get it, you’re not the best person with your emotions, so I shouldn’t take it to heart, but I couldn’t help it. So I thought it would be nice for both of us if we just split.”
He didn’t respond; he just stared.
Stared at the mess he caused because of his stupidity.
He may have worked a lot throughout his day and been pushed to his limit relentlessly, but that meant nothing when he met your embrace.
There was a reason his apartment was barely used; he could only truly function when he woke up, with your arms wrapped around him.
To feel you around him meant everything to him, who thought he had left affection behind a long time ago.
You brought out a side to him that he was sure only his family had seen before his mom’s passing.
His shoulders could drop, his eyebrows no longer furrowed, while his jaw could unclench.
You offered a home he intended never to let go of.
So that godforsaken day you broke up with him. His brain short-circuited for the first time; he couldn’t give a hotheaded response, but rather silence.
Lost in the fact that he managed to lose you.
He could look down to hide the glossiness of his eyes and nod when his throat felt like it could explode.
He had lost you once, and he would be damned if he lost again.
He raised his hand and pushed your chin all the way up so he could see you.
His heart pained at the sight.
You are desperately trying to fight back the tears, daring to let them spill.
You don't want him to see the awful crybaby side you always hated.
You tried to dart your eyes elsewhere, only for him to turn your head back gently, but firmly. He needed to see your eyes.
“I’m a grown man; there's nothing someone can force me to do. I do what I do because I want to. Work is a pain in my fucking ass, but I know at least $2.00 of my paycheck goes somewhere useful”
Your teeth squished your lip, trying to keep the tears from spilling.
His hand gently pulled down your lip, “You're going to make yourself bleed”
“I’m trying not to make myself cry,” you sniffled.
Sanemi’s mouth hung wide. His hand quickly moved from your chin to the buttons on his shirt, unbuttoning them with a godlike speed.
“Wh- what are you doing?”
“I hurt you, it’s only fair you get to do the same.” he raised his arms in the air, allowing you to get a full range of him if you wanted.
You could only look at him in awe; you had forgotten how built the man was. A man so muscular had no problem putting himself on display like this
You could only laugh, no longer fighting the urge to cry.
“No. I can’t.” You shook your head, tears running freely down your cheeks.
He grabbed your hand, forcing it into a fist, and hit himself.
You tried to yank your arm back, only for him to hold you tighter, interlocking it with his own. “You keep trying to run from me tonight”
“I don’t care about hurting you back, I just wanted to feel that you verbally care for me too,” you sighed, looking down at the cement once more.
His eyes wandered over your face, with his mouth and attitude, anyone would take up the chance and hit him. Hell, he was used to it.
But once again, you weren’t like the others; you somehow saw a calmer side to him, one he hoped he could expand, so you would never feel the need to hide your tears.
“I’ll do it for you, if you let me,” he muttered.
“You know what I’m talking about”
You quickly shook your head.
“Show you I love you verbally,” he whispered, his ears turning a soft hue of pink.
You gasped, “You love me? What a lover boy. I don’t know if I can accept,” you teased, shrugging your shoulders.
He rolled his eyes before completely engulfing your body with his own. Not caring that if anyone got close enough, they could see.
His arms wrapped tightly around your waist as he rested his head in your neck. A warmth your body could never forget.
“Not my name,” he grunted, only squeezing his arms around your waist tighter.
“Better,” he slowly let go of his tight grip, his hands only slowly making circles in your back.
“Mitsuri probably ate all the fries,” you whined.
Changing the mood from loving to the current state of your empty stomach.
“I'll get you more,” he grumbled.
