the more I play Uma Musume the more I'm convinced that "rivalry" for Umas is properly defined as essentially a less toxic form of kismesis
evidence includes:
opera/doto (opera's "I want doto to be my best rival" thing is an elaborate courtship)
nature/teio (one-sided, sorry nature)
cheval grand/kitasan black (how the fuck else do you interpret that speech chevy gave in S3)
el/grass (somehow distinct from the S&M element of their relationship)
tachyon/pocket (specifically in BOANE; in the game tachyon/cafe is more the vibe)
rudolf/maruzensky (towards the end of rudolf's career)
vodka/scarlet (obvious, really)
