Why Light Yagami kinnies aren't as terrifying as you think
Ok so I know this isn't a Kuroshitsuji post BUT I have seen so much Light Yagami AND Light kinnie slander all over tik tok and I cant stand it anymore so I decided to write this, before you attack me please read all the way, this is a long post so I hope you enjoy:) oh and btw I do accept CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM! Thank you<3
Anyways lets jump right in
You need to understand that Light isnt a one dimensional physcopath. He has many many layers. If someone kins Sangwoo for example, that would be a lot more concerning because he was meant to be a physcopath since the beggining, he never had redemtion or was a good person to begin with.
Light Yagami on the other hand USED to be good, the anime and manga (and even the death note musical) show you that. Pre!dn Light was a very intelligent kid, yet he had no control over his own life. Since a very young age he had the pressure to be perfect infront of everyone, especially his parents. He was no doubt, someone who possibly had to supress many emotions to keep up with that perfect facade of his.
He was morally good, you can use the song that Light Yagami sang in the death note musical called "Where is the Justice?" as referance. Hes frustrated with how much the goverment system has failed us, he feels for the victims of this corrupted world and wishes to help them. He had a good moral standpoint at the start of the series.
The differences between Kira!Light and pre!dn Light are huge. Pre!dn Light argues that he would never use a woman and play around with her emotions, he says that he could never be a murderer, and he cares for others and their saftey (hence him getting worried about Misa when they were going to execute one of L's plans and Light was worried she could get killed). Kira!Light constantly manipulates Misa, kills countless of people with no mercy, and is willing to sacrifice everyone, including his own familly, to atain his goals. This comes to show how the death note can drasticly change anyone, how power could easily corrupt you.
Light Yagamis story is truly a tragedy, lets not forget he was 17 years old when he picked up the death note. He was just a boy, a boy with a promesing life ahead of him, and the ending of Death Note shows you that. When hes wounded and running away from the police, he gets to reflect on what could've been if he didnt pick of the death note. He looks at his past self and you can tell he feels regret. He regrets it all. He killed countless for NOTHING, he killed his friend and only equal for NOTHING, he sacrificed his sanity for NOTHING. He never became a god of a new world, but he did give this meaningless life a meaning.
Why do people kin Light Yagami?
Well to be honest there are many reasons one can kin him.
Feeling constant pressure to keep up a "perfect person" facade. Isnt this obvious? Light throughout the anime wants to be seen as this "perfect student, prefect son, perfect man" that mentality of being perfect was probably instilled to him from a very young age.
Afraid to not bring anything to the table. Light wanted to do something big in his life, he wanted to change and impact the world in some way. He feared not adding meaning or purpose to his life.
Supressing your emotions in front of other people. Do I even have to explain this one? Light Yagami supressed SO MANY negative emotions. He always had to keep his cool when on the inside he most likely felt like shouting at everyone.
Not having control over your own life. He wanted people to hear him. He was constantly controlled by many. And since he had to instill that perfect facade of his he couldn't do anything about it. The school system controlled him, the goverment controlled him, hell one can argue that his family controlled him too.
Stubborn, always stick to your goals. Although we can all agree that his goal and intentions turned into something completly fucked up, you can understand the feeling of feeling a sort of attachment to a goal and wanting to accomplish it.
A huge adocate for peoples rights, hates the goverment system for mistreating others. Once again, you can use "Where is the Justice?" as referance. He simply wanted the goverment to play clean and he felt for the victims, wishing they could get the justice they deserve.
God complex. I don't need to explain this one, but I will anyways. Light evidently had a god complex. He bealives hes greater than others. I don't relate to that personally, but people with actual God complexes most likely feel for Light when he got shot, when Light realized he wasnt a God. When his illusion was crumpled up. When he realized he was Kira, but not a god.
Being a very intelligent person and feeling like you cant really fit in with others because of it. You can tell Yagami was a lone wolf, yeah people admired him for his intelligence but no one actually matched it (until L appeared ofc), anyways he didn't relate to many and many didnt relate to him for that reason.
Gifted kid burnout. Light is obviously someone who loves when people give him feedback and validation. You can tell that he secretly craves for it. He is extremly intelligent so there is no doubt he constantly got praised for his work, so when people didn't agree with him or admire his work, he gets extremely offended.
Why do Light Kinnies get constantly attacked?
People love to demonize and villinize Light Yagamis character so much. Forgeting that every character in death note is at fault. This doesn't mean I condone Light's actions. But people need to understand that in this whole show no one is black or white. When people say that L is the good person and that Light is the bad person, youre watching/reading the whole anime/manga wrong. L and Light are two sides of the same coin. Both Light and L used and got rid of people who got in their way.
Don't get me wrong I love L, but he even openly admitted to only help out in the cases that hes intrested in just for validation. Think about it, he could've helped countless of people out by solving other "less intersting" cases, but chooses to help only the ones he finds interesting to higher his ego. He also "in the name of justice" takes drastic messures to get what he wants, Lets not forget L did lock up Misa and Light for days on end with little to no interaction just to prove a point.
Light treated Misa very badly, and I hate him for that but honestly Misa wasn't a goodie two-shoes either. Lets not forget she was killing countless of people too, and was willing to kill L, who she claimed as a friend.
My point here is almost absolutely no one in death note is genuienly good. They are all morally grey. No black or white here.
Light Yagami is a very complex character and when people say they kin him, that doesn't mean they're downright insane! Listen to their reasons first before jumping to conclusions.
Also its okay if you hate Light, its actually very valid if you do. But people who like Light have very valid reasons too so there is no point in fighting! Just listen to each others reasons and agree to disagree.
Also I did this not because im salty about the slander, but I just felt like writing this for fun.
