The sound of the rain bouncing off the top of his umbrella was relaxing. Rather than going home after his shift, River had been wandering around the city - watching the sun rise and then disappear behind the rain clouds that had drifted in. The streets had become busier, the world livelier. It made his heart swell, a permanent smile on his face as he all but danced up and down the sidewalks.
He tips back his bright orange shield, letting some of the rain drip down on his face, refreshing his mind and spirit. He didn’t need sleep when he could gather the energy straight from the source falling from the sky. Humming under his breath, he’s a force to be reckoned with, optimism and happiness dripping from his pores. Even when he turns to look at the person next to him, unable to suppress the smile when he see’s them soaking wet from the downpour.
“Forgot your umbrella?” River has to raise his voice just to be heard over the drumming of rain drops, not thinking twice before he’s extending his own. Within those few seconds, he’s soaked as well, not that he cares. If anything, he’s glad to have the excuse to be free. “Take mine!”
