On 31 May we were joined in the studio by Robyn from the Ron Belling Art Gallery which hosted an exhibition aimed at rhino awareness during the Grahamstown National Arts Festival. 

On 12 July we chatted to Umzi Wethu graduate, Danny Sauls about his inspiring journey. He was part of the first Umzi Wethu intake in 2006 and has used the skills he learned to build a career for himself in the hospitality industry.

Developed by the Wilderness Foundation to address the environmental needs of Africa, the Green Leaf Environmental Standard responds to corporate social responsibility seeking responsible and sustainable best practice.

Director of the Green Leaf Environmental Trust, Andrew Philips joined us in the Kingfisher FM studios to discuss the importance of having a green standard in South Africa. The show was part of the Wilderness Foundation’s weekly EcoNexion feature. 

Aimed at owners, managers, employees and consumers, the Green Leaf Environmental Standard  is an internationally recognised standard for measuring green accommodation, green business, green products, green conferencing and green events.

The Green Leaf Environmental Standard head office is based in Port Elizabeth, South Africa and operates globally through the Wilderness Network in the United States, United Kingdom and Germany.

The Pride Project was featured on our regular Kingfisher FM programme, Econexion, on 22 March, 2013.

Pride was developed to fulfil the need for an environmental education outreach programme among disadvantaged youth from urban and rural areas.

Two of our amazing Pride guides, Lonwabo and Khayalethu joined us in the studio to chat about life as environmental educators.

Wilderness Foundation’s experiential education manager, Lihle Mbokazi highlighted the importance of instilling a passion for nature in the younger generations.
